Thin skin- could this be estrogen related?

Ladies,

I know my ovaries are in there, and I know they woke up at some point because my sex drive was going crazy for the first two weeks or so after surgery. (yup, it's gone now) But, I'm wondering if my estrogen levels are kind of going up and down as my body adjusts.... and if that could be having any effect on my skin.

I ask because the skin around my vaginal opening and rear is very tender and has been irritated and raw almost constantly since surgery, I think just from the stress of wiping and constipation, etc. I also had a betadyne burn that made that whole area red and peely for the first week, which didn't help. I've also noticed that my gums seem to be really sensitive and thin. Foods cut and irritate them more, as does brushing. To top it all off, I know this is a cold weather symptom too, but my nose has been crusty and red/irritated since surgery also.

It just occurred to me yesterday... these are all tender areas of skin. Areas that are thinner than most other parts. I thought I remembered reading on here somewhere that estrogen can mess with your skin.... or maybe I made that up. Help me out, could my skin tenderness be related to my fluctuating hormones?

Thanks sisters!

Yes, thinning of the skin can go along with lower estrogen levels. Perhaps your doctor can suggest something for you in the way of a topical estrogen.

Yes. Over time. You haven't had time yet. And you have an ovary. There is another explanation and you need to find it via the Doctor.
