Length of hospital stay for TAH?

I haven't yet booked my abdominal hysterectomy but am trying to prepare for what may lay ahead.

I was wondering how long are you in the hospital for?

Thanks!

I had a Da Vinci robotic hysterectomy and went in on Wednesday and went home Saturday. The hospital stay really depends on how well you recover after surgery. The doctors require you to walk the day after, pass gas and eat before you are allowed to go home.
Make sure to walk as soon as possible, have the nurses help you out of bed the first few times after surgery (your stitches or staples will not come out) and getting out of bed the first few times is very painful, but then once you get moving around the pain starts getting better.
Good luck

Really depends on dr and you. My surgery 9 (TAH BSO) was Thur am and came home Sat afternoon. Just be sure you are able to get up and walk before you go home, walk, walk, walk. Good Luck.

Length of hospital stay for TAH?

They told me I'd be in anywhere from 2-4 nights depending on how I did.

I was in for 3 nights -- went in on Monday and left on Thursday.

Hi mrs.h!

I hope that you will find the following article helpful. It was written based on comments received through the years by members of Hystersisters.com:

How long will I be in the hospital?

I had a complication-free TAH/BSO and spent three nights in the hospital.

Length of hospital stay for TAH?

My doctor told me that I will arrive on Tuesday morning and I should be able to leave Thursday as long as nothing goes wrong and that I am healing properly.
