Has anyone had a "good" experience with their ovaries waking back up?

Glad to hear I am not in this boat alone! I had a TAH on Jan 5th. I kept one ovary but KNOW it is not working. Night sweats and crying spells are unbearable. This started about 3 days after surgery... at least that is when I noticed it. Has anyone had a "good" experience with their ovaries waking back up? I was hoping for a few more years...

It's great to have you join us and we hope you'll enjoy being part of this amazing support community.

"Sleeping" or "shocked" ovaries is quite common and most ladies find they start functioning normally again as they recover, although everyone's experience of this is different. The ovaries can struggle temporarily, purely due to the trauma of surgery. Have you found our <link> Post-Op Page yet? It's absolutely packed with information, including an article on the subject.

If you've not done so already, you may wish to contact your doctor who may have some suggestions for temporary relief.

Sending all good wishes and positive thoughts your way!

Mine woke back up in week 2 also. I had the night sweats & all for the 2 weeks. I am doing good now. Sounds pretty normal to me. Best wishes.

No problems here

I have one ovary and have not had any problems since my surgery on 1/6. The doc took my left ovary (covered by a huge cyst). Thankfully my remaining ovary is still working.

Best of luck in your recovery!
