August 28th date

Hi All,
New to the group and NERVOUS!! My date for a TAH with ovaries remove (can't think of abbreviation) is August 28th. Anyone else on that date?
Really appreciate this web site. It has helped me so much. I am especially looking forward to the prayer support on "my day"!
My main concern is the after affects of anesthsia. Have had a hard time with that in the past. Really go thru anxiety afterwards for about 3 weeks. I asked my dr. yesterday if I could have an epidural instead of general and she said I would be too uncomfortable. So, she recommended Paxil for anxiety. I really hestitate to use that kind of stuff as I have read about withdrawals,etc.
I am 49 and have not gone thru menopause yet, so will have to be on some type of HRT right away. I am worried about my reaction to that in addition to my emotional experiences after anethesia. I might add that I am a thyroid patient struggling with adjustments to medication. So, the surgery part doesn't bother me too much, it is just the anesthesia and hormone balances afterwards. Anybody have any imput?

I am having TVH with bladder repairs. Just posted also about having to come home with a cath for 8 days.

Hello and welcome to hystersisters Cassandra. The initials for your surgery is tah/bso...that's what I had in March 2000. I was scared before surgery...pre-op is a roller coaster of emotions..no doubt about that. HOWEVER, my surgery and recovery went smooth.

I had estrogen patch put on the day after surgery but opted to take daily estrogen pill when I got home. I haven't had any problems....matter of fact, my moods are more stable now than they've been for YEARS.

I am scheduled for a TAH/BSO on the 28th. Starting to get a little nervous.

My doctor put me on Paxil about 4 weeks ago for Anxiety and Depression, and I am doing wonderful now.

I have a bad experience with Anesthesia also, I get very sick.

I am hoping the paxil works for me, so my emotions are not to crazy.

Relax we will get through this all together.
