My doc mentioned that sexual intercourse could be painful for the first 3 months....has anyone heard this?

Realize that we are all different and what I say here will be counteracted by someone else's experience. One person here in a different post stated it as "the first 10 times don't count". I know after 9.5 weeks post surgery my hubby and I tried (I had been delayed because of healing) and it was unbelievably painful even with lube. Apparently I still need more time to heal so I was put on anohter hold for 1.5 weeks (which will put me 11 weeks post surgery). Nurse Practitioner said that trying is the best thing and that after months it should get back to normal and if by 6 months I don't think it is or it's still painful that they will send me to a uro-gyno to see what's going on. She said next time we try if we're well lubed and I still think it's too painful I should call and they'll do a pelvic check to see if there's granularization. The good thing is that I'll be going to a new gyno right at the time I should be "okay" to try again so I"m hoping when she does her internal she'll be able to tell me how things look.

Well it's not allowed for 6 weeks minimum in most cases, so that's half your 3 months, and yes your tummy will be sore for at least 3 months if you have TAH...at least... so...I am ok in that Department, have been since about...6 months out.

I'm almost 3 months post-op and no pain yet

I realize everyone is different, and this is just my experience. But, so far no pain and no lube needed ever

As everyone has already said, we all heal differently so its hard to say how you will feel. For me it got better each time. It never hurt but my "first time" was far from pleasurable. If its not great the first time, don't get upset. Practice does make perfect. Best of luck to you!! I hope that your surgery goes great and you have a quick and easy recovery!

It has never hurt for me. I was cleared at 3 wks because I had LSH. KY is a must mainly because we were both so nervous. Less and less is needed now. Everyone is different, but for me personally nothing has changed in that dept.

It's been good for me since my doctor gave me the go-ahead.
