Please help, can't poop :o(

I am sooo hating this!!!!

I had my hysterectomy last Tuesday and haven't had a BM since last Monday.
Well, it's ready to come out, but it won't! It's to big (gross, sorry)
I have been in tears for 2 hours and am at my wits end.

Will an enema help at this point?
I don't know what else to do.

An enema would probably help. I almost resorted to that myself. Afterward though, you may want to take a stool softener (Colace), and make sure you are eating plenty of fiber foods.

Hope you feel better! After I went once, it was a little hard the next day (no pun intended), but then it was easy, and I've been going 3 or 4 times a day since then. I also had my first bm 7 days post op.

Good Luck!

I have been taking stool softners from day one in the hospital, drinking TONS of water and started taking Senokot-S 2 days ago hoping to avoid this situation
I should have been uping the fiber intake, didn't know it was going to be this bad! So I will be doing that now for sure.

I just don't know how to get over this hurdle first!

You might want to try Milk of Magnesia, it seemed to help for me. The doctor told me to take Colace. It is expensive but worth it. I take at least two a day. One it happens you will feel so muc better. It took me almost a week post surgery. Good luck!!!!

My 1st Bm was 5 days post op and I had to use a dulcolax supp. It did hurt real bad. Then I also started Miralax daily until my bowels got more normal. I am also still taking stool softeners. I still struggle with my bowels and spasims when they are trying to move. I would call your DR for advice. Mine told me to try what I said above but if it did not work they wanted to see me. Do not wait to long the longer you wait the harder the stool will be. to pass. Good Luck.

Oh dear gawd, it's OUT!

I had DH run down and get an enema and just the thought of it must have been enough for it to get the heck out, lol!
It only hurt for a second, which surprised me, because I thought it was going to be so bad that I would pass out.
Thanks for your help guys, I will be increasing my fiber and stool softners now so I don't have to go through this again!

Glad you went. I went today (5th day post-op).

For anyone else who needs help, I took a stool softener every day. I also ate Weetabix for fiber. And, I took milk of magnesia as well.

I'm planning to add Benefiber to all my meals so that I become regular again.

I've heard before that 2 Tablespoons if Milk of Magnesia followed by a hot cup of water will have you "going" in no time.

Good Luck...
