No sweat? Not lately!

I had my SAH in May of 2007. I healed well, kept ovaries.

In the past two weeks, I have had a definite VERY WARM, if not HOT, flash every night, where I have to peel some covers off to get back to normal.

The last few nights - and this morning too - I break out in sweat, especially noticeable on the forehead.

Menopause is NOT a disease. It's like going through another puberty, only with more maturity (ummmm.....well, yeah, ok ).

This is not huge news...just that I kept my ovaries and that means I get to go through this. My surgeon had wanted to remove them because the average age for North American women to go through menopause is 51.

Well, I am 52, 53 in July. I am really glad I kept my ovaries because 1) I don't go through a SUDDEN menopause, and 2) because research is showing that our ovaries do a lot of good even when they aren't estrogen powerhouses any more.

If there was another forum for this...I missed it. My menopause is not surgically caused, so the one I saw is not the right one.

Anyone else 'getting warm'>

No sweat? Not lately!

HI,

I had my SAH/BSO in June. Of course with the BSO came surgical menopause. I am "very warm" and have been since July, BUT, nothing I can't handle (so far). I was experiencing perimenopause symptoms before the surgery. Keeping my ovaries was not an option, (tooooo many trips to ER for rupturing ovaries). I am not doing HRT, and don't plan to, after all, this can't last forever!!??, can it?????

Hi Arly3!

I've moved your thread here to the Natural Menopause forum where you can connect with women who, like you, have had a hysterectomy and kept their ovaries.

You're in good company here! I hope you get replies soon from others who can relate.
