3 mths post-op rectocele healing problems, need info

Finally made a return visit to my gyno today concerning ongoing discharge/slight bleeding from rectocele operation end of Oct. Unfortunately, she was on holidays for a month, so left me high and dry for answers, other than to tell me to see my own family doctor for a swap in case of infection. Did all that and went on meds, problems came back. Gyno took one look and feel, said I need outpatient surgery at her clinic because I haven't healed properly. She is a doctor of few words, as many of them are. She will freeze my vagina and scrape. No other explanation was given....as she breezed out of the office. Now I am wondering, what went wrong, what is she scrapping out, and how painful might it be when the freezing comes out. I am being a wimp about this. Any other ladies had this problem and follow-up procedure?...who can shed some light on this for me....many thanks in advance.

Bella--

I'm sorry you've had such continuing problems. I'm really not a doctor BUT it sounds to me like you might have something like granulation. I really and truly do NOT know but my doctor would 'freeze' granulation growth and let it fall off or remove it right there. I am wondering if you happen to have a lot of it and that's why your Dr. wants to do it in an outpatient surgery?

Really, the only way to tell is to ask the doctor herself. Does she have another doctor she practices with? If so, perhaps you can call that doctor and ask. OR if you can call the nurses in the office and ask them, that could help you, too. Even if the doctor is on holiday, they usually leave a number or other doctor to call in case of emergency. You can find out who that Dr. is and ask them perhaps.

If none of those were options for me, I would go to my regular doctor and ask him/her what his/her opinion was on the matter.

I hope you find the information and help you need ASAP.

Sending BIG ..........

I am so nervous about my granulation removal tomorrow, will ask her to put lots of freezing in....don't want to feel a thing. Have been reading other ladies accounts of the pain during removal without freezing...sounds horrid.

I had granulation after the birth damage I had to my vaginal canal. They put silver nitrate on the area (freezing it). I don't recall much pain - if any. I had to have it done several times - before I finally healed. I recall a smelly, black, gray discharge after - but no pain.

Best Wished!
