Poll: If you take prescription HRT, what kind do you take?

Spicyredhead I am sorry I did not completely understand your situation. I sincerely hope you fully recover. I know it is early in the day, but I feel great so far. I am looking forward to getting together with my niece and her new daughter this sunday at Polaris. Take care ladies, and have a great day.

Poll: If you take prescription HRT, what kind do you take?

I chose to have my ovaries out (I am 55 and was already in the process of menopause) and, no, the cost of HRT was never brought up. I am now on Estradiol (1mg)---the generic version of Estrace----and seem to be tolerating it well so far. Our shock was learning that Estrace would have been $53.00 per month------yet, thankfully, I'm getting the Estradiol for only $4.00 per month at Walmart's pharmacy!!!

I take 2 mg of Estradiol a day. And like sadiebelle said, you can get it (and others) at Walmart under their special $4 or $10 prescription plan. And you can even get Estradiol, a three month prescription, for $10. That's quite a savings, and not that great of expense at all considering what it's doing for us.

Right now I'm taking one 1mg and one .5mg oral estradiol a day, but I'm still having hot flashes, mood swings, etc. so I'm going to ask my dr to up me to two 1mg tablets a day at my appt next month. I hope that does the trick!

I'm still taking Menest but I'm down to .3mg a day now. Soon I'm supposed to cut it to that every other day.

I chose to have everything out. I was already entering menopause. Cost of HRT was never brought up. I started oral Estradiol (1mg) generic version of Estrace a little over a week ago and seem to be do okay so far.

Re: Poll: If you take prescription HRT, what kind do you take?

Hello Everyone. My doctor gave me a 3 month supply of Loestrin 24 Fe to stop the bleeding, but I have been experiencing sharp pains in my abdomen closer to where my ovaries are. He gave me two options, either to take the pills to see if the bleeding will stop or to just go ahead and schedule the hysterectomy. I chose the pills because my living situation is crazy. My husband works all the time and my mom lives in Louisiana, and I would need someone to watch my daughter while I am in the hospital. If the pain doesn't stop between now and late May, then I will schedule a hysterectomy. I used to not like Birth Control pills, but these actually work. Maybe I should have taken them before I decided on getting a tubal ligation. BTW: I have a 4.6 mass fibroid in my uterus. My doctor said he hopes that it shrinks but if not by the time I come back in 3 months, then they would take it out for me.

Re: Poll: If you take prescription HRT, what kind do you take?

Everything had prolapsed including my tubes and ovaries, so out they came... I had been through a natural Menopause Pre Op so I was switched from Prempro to Premarin, and I added OTC Progesterone....
