Re: Poll: If you take prescription HRT, what kind do you take?

Update to my post on the 29th..

I saw my Dr on the 30th and was having a pretty severe hot flash in the exam room. The dr told me I waited long enough and thanks to this website I asked about Vivelle Dot. The Dr told me she has had great success with other patients with it. She gave me a few freebies and wrote a prescription as well. I was given Vivelle Dot .1 mg to change every 3 days. After about 24 hours I have already noticed a huge decline in the hot flashes. I didn't realize it would work so quickly for me.

I feel I did not know just how intence menopause would be. I don't feel I had a chioce. When it came down to Cancer I wanted it out so if it was thier it'd be gone and if not at least it couldn't become cancer. But the only thing I am on is testosterone I take black cohosh for hot flashes So far it's working. I never dreamed how hard menopause is oh my!!!! But between that and my other health problems it's been a trip! With Gods help and dr's and places like this I can make it.

Evamist is 1.5 Estrogen in a transdermal spray. I have Estring that is a 2 mg estrogen inserted every 3 mos as a vaginal ring. AND it keeps UTI free for the past 3.5 years.

There wasn't a circle to fill in for me. I take compounded progesterone cream and a pill. I also take DHEA. I have implanted testosterone pellets every 4 months. I am also on Compounded Thyroid.

Re: Poll: If you take prescription HRT, what kind do you take?

Almost 6 weeks post-op TAH-BSO. 48 yrs old. We were pretty sure I would need to have 1 ovary out but we hoped I would keep the other. No such luck, cysts in both. We think I had already started pre menopause but was still having periods. At 3 week checkup dr put me on premarin cream, 1 gm I believe. I didn't start it right away and I still don't use it everyday because I forget. He told me I may not need the full amount and not everyday. To use it as I thought I needed. My main complaint was burning, itching and dryness and mild warm flushes. All of which I had before surgery also. I don't remember much being said beforehand about Meds except that I may not need anything because of age and prior happenings. Being that we use a military hosp I don't pay for Meds which is nice since between my husband an I we would be paying well over $100 month I'm sure on top of our ins pmt.

I do buy my estrovan Multi-vitamin since they will only provide prenatal. Not sure if they are helping at all. Vaginal dryness has cleared up and no mood swings but still warm flushes (not even a flash) and tire easy but cant sleep at night.

Re: Poll: If you take prescription HRT, what kind do you take?

Mine wasn't listed. I am using the Evamist pump. It is a spray that you hold against your inner forearm. It is Estrogen replacement. You have to alternate arms each day so I have to keep it on paper so I don't forget which arm to use. But it is convenient and so far it is working great! No hot flashes, no night sweats, hardly no mood swings. Not sure about vaginal dryness yet. Will find out in a few weeks!
