feeling crazy

I am 5 wks post op,I had a abdominal hysterectomy w/ bilateral salpingo oopheretomy.( both overies & tubes) I felt great the first few wks but now im not doing well at all. I have had a migrain for 2wks now, some days it not so bad and I have ended up in the ER 2x's now. My fam md and my gyno do not have a clue what to do for me. They have changed me to zolaft and hope this works. My gyo shared with me she has not done many hysters, while I had a real bad migrain and was asking her what I should do. How do I get them both to understand HRT better and this is what I may need??? please help, I feel I'm going crazy. I had surgery to get ridd of pain, now it just has moved

to HysterSisters!

I'm glad you found this site--it's an amazing place to share information, support and experiences.

If I'm reading your post correctly, you're not using anything yet for hormone therapy. Is that correct? If so, is there a reason your doctor didn't want you on hormone therapy right away?

I used to get migraines pre-op when my hormone levels fluctuated and the only time I've been hit with them post-op is when my estrogen level is too low. If you're a candidate to use hormone therapy it's certainly worth trying to see if it will help you feel better.

There's lots of good reading here: Hormone Jungle Articles. If it would help, you could print off an article or two of interest to share with your doctors. Don't hesitate to seek another opinion if your doctors are clueless about hormone therapy. Not all doctors are knowledgeable about prescribing it but there are many who understand the importance that hormones play in our well-being--especially those of us in surgical menopause.

Please let us know what you decide, okay?
