sexual dysfunction

Hi everybody I'm new here and have some questions so here goes: I had my total hysterectomy 3-1-07 and it seems like the more time that goes by the less interest i have in sex. I think about it and sometimes want to have it but when my husband and i try i'm so dry that he can't sustain an erection and i feel sexless. Seems like too much trouble and he hates using any vaginal lubricant(it's too messy) and we feel awkward putting it on. I'm 43, he's 56. Sometimes i feel like i will never have any joy again in my life, if i had it to do over i wouldn't have had the surgery. I had ovarian ca. with possible endometrium ca.. I can't take hrt's because of a hx of breast ca. in my mom and granny. I have tried the all natural stuff like soy and it does not help. Am i doomed to spend the rest of my life like this?

Hey Wldrose! I have similar problems although I am on hormone replacement. When it comes to the vaginal dryness, my doctor gave me a cream that does have hormones in it. That has helped me a great deal. You might talk with your doctor about it. And as a suggestion in the mean time... If you think about sex and decide you want some, before you initiate with your husband, go to the bathroom and lube yourself up. That will eliminate the embarassing part for you, and he will know that you were thinking about him! Try a lubricant that is lite. You might look into Pure Romance, they have some great products.
