How long still it starts working? Estradiol
I saw my doc on Feb 5th for my yearly exam. Well I have been having trouble with night sweats, mood swings, and no sex drive for a few months now. I just waited it out until my appt.
He took some blood work and I get the results on Feb 10th.
In the mean time, he put me on Estradiol 2mg.
I just took my 3rd dose a few minutes ago. It said take it at bedtime, but I took it early this time to see if I can feel anything from it since I have not yet.
My question is....when will I know if this is going to work for me? When will I feel any changes in my sex drive?
I am not worried about the mood swings and the night sweats. The low/non sex drive is putting alittle hurt on my marrage. He is not understanding very well and he gets mad.
I know I should go through the emotions and stuff, but it hard to do something I am not enjoying. You know.
We are both still young. We turn 30 in April.
Please any help will be appriciated. Is there still hope for me?

How long still it starts working? Estradiol
Hi
Hormones are a delicate thing, and it takes some time for them to work in the body. I found improvement with many of the symptoms each week on the hormones. You will feel better once sweats , moods get better. Who feels like doing anything with sweats, moods , or other symptoms that might be happening?
Hang in there, and yes there is hope that this will work out. I think it helps to talk to DH about how you are feeling and showing love to each other in little things. I know sometimes one does not feel in the mood or have libido, but it is all about love and giving too.
Wishing the best for the both of you.

If you had your hysterectomy in 2007, why did the doctor wait 2 years to start you on estradiol? I am only 2 1/2 weeks post op and still trying to figure things out myself, but my doctor started me on estradiol 2mg the morning after surgery.
Hang in there, I am sure it will get better.

Thank you both for your replies.
Since I still have both my ovaries, he didnt want me on any type of hormones until I needed them.
I have been having these symptoms but they are just getting worse with time so I talked to him about it.
Thanks again for talking with me. Means alot.

Oh, sorry I missed the fact that you still had your ovaries.
I have had other women tell me that they were ok for the first 2 years also before they had symptoms. I really hope that you will balance out soon.

How long till it starts working? Estradiol
Hi there Beastmaster-love the name! We all feel like beastmasters trying to control our hormones!! I've been suffering the exact same symptoms as you, & I just took my first dose of Estratest HS today. I'm wondering how you'r tests turned out as well as if your HRT is working yet? I still have my ovaries & am only 42, but I've been suffering w/ severe night sweats for a few yrs. now. My symptoms have increased since my TAH on 10/21. Surprisingly my Dr. sd. my estrogen was just a little low. I hope we both get some positive results from these meds. You are so young, my heart goes out to you. Also men aren't terribly mature even at 30! Let me know how it turns out for you....Chris (Hollyrose)

Hey Holly! Thanks for liking my name...I never looked at it like you just did!
Well, I have been on the pills for 2 weeks now and I can tell a difference. I am not as mooding/angry and my sex drive has gone up alot. In fact, just this morning my hubby had to tell ME no. LOL
There is only one down side I see so far with this hormone. I cry more. I cry at everything....if something does go just right, I cry. I NEVER cried over anything before...not even a movie. But now, if my feelings get hurt, I cry like a 2yr old! lol
I guess I would rather cry then yell and not have sex. The hot flashes at night have gone down. I find myself cooler...wanting to wear clothes to bed again.
I hope they start working good for you as well. Keep me updated.
My labs came back normal so that good. I am sure they were a smig low but still in normal range.
TTYL!

Beastmaster, thanks for the info. Sorry to hear you are crying a lot! I definately do not need that, but having a better sex drive, & a dry night should put a smile on my face! I'll keep you posted on what happens. You might want to mention to your dr. about the high emotions-you may need some adjustment. I have a new problem now- I've been spotting slightly since sex w/ hubby on Sun. I suppose I should call the dr. again-probably granulation. I swear it never seems to end!!
