9 hrs later, I am at home with lots of energy after my DV TH. If it wasn't for a little soreness and gas going to my shoulders every so often I wouldn't think that I even had surgery. I am positive I will pay for it tomorrow. I pray that everyone elses surgery went well today. You guys take care.

My surgery was Monday afternoon, got home this afternoon. (Tuesday).
Things went really well, they found more damage than they expected, my disease was really spreading fast so they removed more than I was thinking (I didn't get to talk to the doc, hubby did and he forgets things), but something about having to remove ligaments that were really damaged. The best news...they were able to save one of my ovaries! I am very happy about that!
Honestly this pain is no worse than any other lap I've had done before, and if I'm laying still the pain is no worse than period pain. Some tenderness when I try to stand up or if I twist, but really not bad at all. Doc told hubby I should be clear to do things in about 2-3 weeks. Said I'd still be tired and no lifting, but could be driving and be up and doing things by then!
So all in all things went really well, I'm feeling great and very happy I finally got it done!
Hope everyone else is doing as well!

I had my LSH on 2/9/09 and I am feeling pretty good today! Surgery was at 8am and I was in the car coming home at 5:30pm. I had the option to stay the night at the hospital but didn't feel like it was necessary. I felt like I would get better rest at home.

I didn't need anything for pain after I left recovery but did take something later Monday night just to make sure I would be comfortable while I slept. I had a pretty good night's sleep monday night and even better last night. I have a little soreness and it hurts a little to get up and get down but the Advil really helps with that. When my doctor came by to discharge me monday evening, he told me that it was fine to take the pain medication if I needed it but to also take motrin or advil also because they help with the inflammation where as things like Lortab, Tylox, etc don't help with that.

The only issue is the lack of a BM so far but I am working on that and still remaining hopeful, lol.

Big hugs to everyone!

Day 3

Good morning Princesses,
I am so glad that all of you are doing so fine. My first night bit just a little I didn't like laying down and having to get up every 30-60 minutes to go to the bathroom. Last night was more normal for me. Except for just a little soreness I am still feeling pretty good. Yesterday I went for a 30 minute walk then sat outside for an hour or more watching the storm clouds coming in. You guys take care.

Day 3

I had my TVH Monday morning and they found a much larger fibroid than expected (bigger than softball) and lots of adenomyosis. He was able to piece it out and didn't have to open my belly. I had a little itching from the morphine in the spinal (my friends said I was pretty funny about it), but the meds for that helped me sleep. A little vomiting from the Percocet, but switched to Advil and have been feeling great ever since. Had a wonderful student nurse who followed me from preop to an hour before discharge - she was jazzed about it and I got lots of attention! Came home Tuesday afternoon. Drove about a mile and went in a store to get a new cell phone. I am really feeling good and not nearly as sore as I was with my constant periods. Would have done it months ago if I had know it would be this easy. The information I got here was wonderful and right on - there were no surprises at all.

Had my surgery Tuesday at 7 am...came home about 9 am Wednesday. Very little bleeding, bladder working well (colon not as well...taking stool softener). Greatest pain has been in my back and I have no appetite. Overall, pleasantly surprised at how well i'm feeling...have to remind myself to take it easy.

Hi hyster sisters
I had a LAVH, plus bladder sling, plus hernia repair on Feb 9th at 7:30 am. I told the anesthesiologist that i had a low pain threshhold and morphine made me sick. That was a problem because he gave me something post op that was extremely strong. I thought that if I went to sleep I wouldn't breathe so I didn't get any sleep. My surgery was much longer than expected because the hernia was attached to something. The doctor had trouble freeing it. Once I was on pain pills I did much better. I'm glad you sisters told me about the gas. WOW! I found I could expel the gas if I sat on the toilet. I had to stay in the castle for two days because I couldn't expel all the urine. I really tried - hot wash rag, hot tea helped. I was sent home with a catheter that I empty myself. The doctor wants to retrain my bladder to know what full and empty are. I'm 66 and am having a difficult time with this procedure. I know time and your prayers will help in my healing. I don't have much of an appetite for solid foods. I'm so glad the pain is more controlable. I set the alarm for 4 hrs. and I usually wake up just before it goes off.
