Refusal to take anti-depressants
I have been told I need to take anti-depressants, but do not wish to do so. I plan to try out flower remedies instead. Anyone else who has been stubborn and strong enough to refuse to take anti-depressants? I feel the side-effects might be worse than the problem itself.

Refusal to take anti-depressants
I try not to take them, but wold if I had to. Would if I had issues interfering with my relationships and/or work.
I find that with lexapro there are very few (if any) side effects.
But I also have a sun light which I use in the winter. I take prescription strength Vit D which also seems to help with the winter depression and aches. I also have found that if I cut out the grains it stabilizes my moods, night sweats and aches as well.

Refusal to take anti-depressants
I refused anti-depressants for 12 weeks, finally said I need the boost until I can work through some of the emotional issues surrounding my surgery and mid-life changes. I've only been doing it a few days but I and my DH can notice the difference. I try to go natural on a lot of stuff but as always you have to know where you are getting the supplements because they may not contain what they are supposed to contain and they still are medication.

natural remedies
Well......I filled the prescription for anti-depressants but never took them, but I have them here if I ever fill the need to use them.
What worked for me was 5 HTP, L-theanine, calms forte, and nerve tonic.
I love the NOW brand vitamins, but sometimes they can be hard to find, but I can always order them online. The Calms Forte and Nerve Tonic comes from Hyland and they are wonderful!!
5 HTP and L-theanine I used together until I got my nerves and moods undercontrol (it didn't take long......maybe a week), I now I just take it when I begin to not feel like my normal self.
I thought I would never become "normal" again but I'm back to being "me" and very seldom do I need to take anything.
(I do take the Calms Forte, melatonin, and sometimes Valerian at night to help me sleep.)
I hope this helps you.

Refusal to take anti-depressants
I have been on the "fence" trying to decide if I need to take anti-depressants. My doctor gave me a sample of Lexapro but they have been sitting here for several months. I think much of mine is hormones. I am taking B vitamin's along with a multi since November and have noticed a tremendous difference. You will know what works best for you.
Take Care and Best Wishes...

Refusal to take anti-depressants
i have a very good doctor, and she highly recommends the supplement
SAM-E..she said it works just as good as prozac..without the side effects, it also reduces inflammation. She said it usually doesnt work
unless you take 600mg-800mg day, but to start with a low dose and gradually build up.I plan on trying it.

Refusal to take anti-depressants
I am on lexapro...at first it took a little adjusting...but my dr. told me it was a high likely hood my body would adjust and I would not have side effects. He told me the lexapro was one of the more popular with better results in my age group. I have no side effects in regard to lexapro...still having side effects from the oophorectomy. I told my doc I thought I needed to up it at my last visit, then changed my mind. I wished I would have gone with my gut. I am a big fan of the bach remedies but with what I have been experiencing and how it is affecting my life and relationships...something drastic will have to happen for me.
I did not have anything after my surgery for 6 weeks. I felt like the biggest mess known to human life. With the lexapro my anxiety is lessened and no night sweats whatsoever. Very nice when you literally do not have to get up and shower in the middle of the night and change your sheets!!! I was suppose to wait til' the end of this month for hormones (waiting period due to endo) but again, I'll be calling my dr tomorrow!
I think it is great if you refuse it and can do it. That route doesn't work for all of us but how nice it would be to not have to take a pill!!! Good luck to you.

Refusal to take anti-depressants
Hi Needsomehelp
I found your post and tauruslady interesting. I am still trying to decide if I should take my doctor's samples of Lexapro. After my hyst I was doing very well, but now menopause rules me. I to am suffering with severe night sweats, moodiness, and anxiety. My brain is in a constant state of "fog". I definitely am not myself. My DH would agree. I almost think that the Lexapro would be more safe than HRT, but I don't know which one would be a better choice. I do not like taking medication if I can avoid it. I am glad to know you are doing well. That is where I want to be more than anything. Being in menopause can be easy for some, very difficult for others. Thanks for the insight.
