Question - need advise re. hrt and health issues need advise re. hrt and health issues

I just rejoined after being away for 2 years, which is how long ago it was that I had a laporoscopic hysterectomy and left my ovaries and cervix intact. The procedure was a success and I felt like a new woman but because I have type two diabetes I was taking some strong blood pressure medicines and not excercising very much after my recovery. I was told I could use estrogen vaginal cream if I desired to help keep me lubricated but I didn't seem to need it. 6 months later I had a mild heart attack. I recovered ok and had rehab etc. and I noticed that I still enjoyed sex but my dh didn't seem to he even said it was because he missed the "danger" of my being able to get pregnant. I was depressed and it took a long time to get over his hurtful words. I also had surgery to repair a leaky bladder almost a year ago. Since that time I've noticed my cervix hurts and I no longer enjoy sex and especially hated having my last pelvic exam. I was told to use the estrogen cream but I don't enjoy using it and am scared of any side effects it could have on my heart. I just read today that they say hysterectomies can contribute to heart disease. I don't want to think about it but am scared about using cream and not sure who to trust for good sound advise. I tend to have hot flashes after cooking dinner but other than that I'm ok. fwiw I have switched to a low fat, cholesterol free vegan diet. (I do eat salmon a couple of times a week.) And I also excercise a minimum of 2 hours a week. Any one with any good ideas please email me, thanks!

I am sorry you are afraid to use the cream. I have used the cream, and now I am using the pill insert Vagifem. I have not had any side effects from them. Vaginal hrt is very low dose. My doctor says it stays there and does not go all over your body like the oral pills and patches do.

I hope you give the cream a chance as it can help problems like discomfort, dryness and other issues in that area of the body.

Hang in there

Have you had your estrogen levels rechecked recently? Many women's ovaries shut down after hysterectomy or don't function at full capacity. You might need supplemental systemic estrogen. Thought I don't know how that all relates with BP meds and diabetes. (check with your dr please)

I used the cream too, hated it, prefer the pill Vagifem. No more messiness, burning/itching and it works great for me.

I think the risks of heart issues are related to low estrogen so would definitely get hormone levels checked... estrogen/progeserone and testosterone. Then you can supplement what's lacking and get back to enjoying your life. Good luck!
