No Hot Flashes, I am FREEZE Dried! Anyone else?

Are there any ladies out there that instead of having Hot Flashes, You Freeze?

I can not get warm... I have always been on the cold side. I did have had hot flashes for years before my surgery... Now that I have had the TAH I am freezing even more... I am not complaining! I know what you are all thinking that are flashing right now... I have lost my mind? But I am freezing, my feet hurt they are so cold... I have to do everything backward! Thanks for reading,

Hi Mystic,

Pre-hyst I was always colder than everyone else in my house. That meant sweaters, tees, leggings, socks and/or slippers, sometimes even a pair of uggs if I had been out and my feet were already warmed up, I'd keep them on around the house. Post-hyst, I'm freezing during the day, even colder than I was before surgery! I typically have a blanket across my lap, a wrap around my shoulders, sometimes even a scarf wrapped around my head, and always slippers on my feet (which are swollen, or else I'd be wearing socks now too!).

Now, at night I go to bed and have to get under several covers and spend a while warming up before I can fall asleep. I have my fan on because a few hours later my body 'goes crazy' and I will wake up soaked from a night sweat!

The only thing I can say is, bundle up and stay warm so you'll be comfortable. I probably need to talk to my doc about my extremes, but heck, there's been so many other things to talk about that I've forgotten when I've seen him!

Get warm and comfy and ((((HUGS)))) - I understand!

Yep. I am cold all the time. It was 87 degrees here last week and I was in a long sleeve thermal shirt with a t-shirt over it.

Hang in there hun. I understand too.

Kinta: Glad your PR was clear.

I dont think I am cold all the time at night I do know I have to kick off the blankets because I get hot and sweat until I get cold and cover up again. I had a TAH with ovaries removed but when I went back to the doctor and I got a call that my hormone level is normal.

Is it possible to not go through menopause or can it take a while to kick in.

Mystic,

I went about 4 months after my op without any estrogen. I swear, I would be so cold it would feel like my BONES were aching! I even had my test my thyroid. I would have my comforter AND two more blankets. Buuuurrrrr...

Once I started the estrogen I got back to "normal."

I am freezing and flashing by turns. I can get into bed with icicles for hands and feet and 5 minutes later I'm having to throw off the covers and turn on the fan...for a few minutes, then, back to freezing again. I spend a total of half of my time perfectly regulated temp-wise, and the other half flipping back and forth.

I'm right there with all of you.I go through most of the day freezing and at night go back and fourth. I haven't slept in days. My Dr. before surgery said that she would put me on a low dose of hormone if this happened, talked to her nurse today and she told me they wouldn't because I smoke!!! Would have been nice to have known before, I had the option to keep my ovaries. I'll keep my fingers crossed for all of us, I hear it doesn't last forever!!!

WOW! Thanks ladies, I am not alone in this!!! I thought I was nuts...

I was always cold, but this is Freeze Dried Cold! and yes, then at night I have a comforter, and an electric blanket and two more on top of that, and my 30 lb. doggie on my feet to keep me warm, and yes, then at some point I get warm, and take a couple of the blankets off, still no sweating, just get warm... DH will put the blankets in the dryer and warm them up and put them on me like the warm blankets at the hospital... Heavenly!!!!

So this could be from the estrogen?

Yes! I was so glad to read your post. I was wondering what was going on. Before my surgery, December 3, 2008, I was normally warm. Now I am cold all the time! I never wore layers of clothes until now. I live in WI and it is cold here anyway, been thinking time to move to a warmer region.

I thought I was going crazy!

70 degrees out yesterday and I put my winter robe on over my clothes and sat under a huge blanket with the chills.

The big joke for my family is that I always do everything different
