D&C 9 days ago-When will the bleeding stop?!

I had a D&C because of a thickened lining, but I had no bleeding for over a year before my D&C. My procedure was 9 days ago and I had bleeding the first day. Very little the second day, I only needed a panty liner. And by the 3rd and 4th day it was just about gone. Seven days after the D&C I lifted a 40 lb. bag of dog food out of the car trunk and carried it up the stairs and into the house. I have to admit, it was pretty heavy. About an hour later, the bleeding started again where I needed a pad. It lasted through the night. By yesterday, it seemed gone again, but last night I bled again before I went to bed. No bleeding during the night. As of now I'm seeing very light bleeding on and off where I only need a panty liner. Is this normal to bleed on and off like this over a week after the procedure, or do you think I did something when I lifted that dam bag of dog food?

Hi Rachel,
I did not bleed post D&C but i was postmenopausal. I believe you should call your doctor and tell him what is going on so he can guide you.
I hope some of the other ladies who've had D&C's will soon come along to share their experience including re possible bleeding occuring a week after the procedure.

D&C 9 days ago-When will the bleeding stop?!

Hi Rachel. I had a similar problem recently, after having a LEEP procedure. I, too, had little bleeding which went away, and has gone and come back over several weeks. I just stopped breastfeeding in January, so I've only had one period, so at times, I assumed it was my period. When it persisted I called my doctor who told me that it was most likely scabs coming off of my cervix, and that it affects every woman differently. He said that he had done the procedure and had a woman go months, and suddenly have this on/off bleeding. I would assume that lifting that was not helpful, but may not have caused it. It is a great idea to give your doc a call, even if it's nothing, it will give you peace of mind! Best of luck to you!

Hi Rachel:

I would suggest calling the doctor. I can't offer any other help because I was having post-menopausal bleeding anyway and the D&C did nothing to stop it, nor did I or my doctor expect it to.

Hugs.
