Considering bio-identical hormone replacement

Hi!

It's good that you're thinking about your hormone therapy options so you can discuss your preferences with your doctor.

I didn't start out on bio-identical hormones but I did switch to them before my first hysterversary and have been using them ever since. I use compounded progesterone and testosterone creams made at my local compounding pharmacy along with Vivelle Dot for my systemic estrogen and Vagifem for vaginal dryness. Those two are made by pharmaceutical companies.

You can read about hormones, including various estrogen options, in this link: Hormone Jungle Articles.

Let us know what you decide to use, okay?

Re: Considering bio-identical hormone replacement

I just made the switch from using Femring to Bio-Identical horemones. I've been on the new cocktail for 7+ days. The only thing I have noticed so far is I am "weepy" which is not normal for me. I have a follow-up with the new doctor next week. It is a process of trial and error to find what works for you and your body. I was frustrated with the Femring because after the 5 week mark my mood swings were bad and the out of pocket expense to move the Femring change from 7 weeks to 5 was too much for me. You have to educate yourself and question your doctors. I wish you the best in your healing process and the process of finding what works best for you.

Re: Considering bio-identical hormone replacement

,

I am an FDA approved bioidentical. It is called Estrasorb. I have been on half dose (typical rx is 2 packages a day) for about 4 months now. Absolutely NO menopausal symptoms or side effects.

I actually found out about it by researching hormones on this website. :smilie5:
