Bladder Pain 4 weeks out, been on antibiotics twice and have had no infection!

I had a TAH on Feb 10, 2009. I have had bladder pain since then, had a foley cath after surgery...everything was fine....then I couldn't pee and had another cath put in. After I was going, although with pain, they sent me home. I was in the hospital 4 days.

When the Dr called to check after a few days at home I asked about the pain that started when I was almost finished going. She had me do a urine test and gave me Macrobid anyway. I took that, still had pain and the urine test was neg. Her partner did my check-up at 3 weeks and he did another urine test and gave me Keflex...I took that too, had another negative urine test, and I still have pain.

Anybody know what to do next? I think the doctor will think I'm crazy if I call again!! Help??

Bladder Pain 4 weeks out, been on antibiotics twice and have had no infection!

I had my surgery Feb 3rd. Uterus only with bladder sling.
I came home with the Foley cath for 5 days. now when I go it does not hurt until the very end as the urine is stopping.
Two weeks ago I did have a UTI they gave me Macrobid.
I had an allergic reation within an hour, lots of throwing up.
Since then I have had pain in my left side a bad burning sensation. I had my 5 week exam today and the Gyn thinks I may have pulled some stitches. She sent me for an Ultra sound so maybe that will answer the pain problem.
I don't go back to the Uro dr until the 27th. I hope by then the discomfort from urinating will have subsided.
I'm sorry you are having this problem but it makes me feel better that I'm not the only one.

Thumbs down - Bladder Pain 4 weeks out, been on antibiotics twice and have had no infection! I feel your pain

I also had the same pain as you. On the same meds even more.

I came home from the hopsital after 3 days of my TVH & TVT.
I noticed the pain on the 2nd of surgery. Doc's said I was fine and I was experening surgical pain.

To make a long story short, I had ultra sound and they see that my bladder wasn,t empting the way it should. I started to leak after 10 days with the same pain. After a Blue dye test and X-ray, the found a fistula ( a hole ) in the bladder and the urine pass through the vaginal area.

What I am trying to say is DO NOT feel that you are taking up your docs time. Call and keep on them about your pain.

I had a repair to fix the fistula, in Jan and it failed. Still on the catheter and waiting for a 2nd repair.

Please call your Uro/Gyno. I will be praying for you . Good Luck!!!!

keep me posted.

Bladder Pain 4 weeks out, been on antibiotics twice and have had no infection!

Hi Girls~
I am sorry to hear about your trouble. I hope it is getting better and resolved.
I too, have had bladder pain since day 5 after surg (2/17/09). I had LAVH. I wonder if I had the pain since surg and it was masked by the pain pills. The pain has ranged form an allover irritated bladder feeling all the time, to bladder pain at the end of urinating as my bladder becomes empty. Then a little pain after for a few minutes.

I went in 2 wks post-op with the bladder pain, had infection, was given Cipro. That did not take care of it. So I took Macrobid. Still no better and going back tomorrow. Did OTC UTI test, was positive for infection. The doc did 2 urine cultures(at 2 and 3 weeks post-op), both were negative. Whenever they tested me in the office I had a lot of Leukocytes and microscopic blood present. HMMMM I do not have leakage.

Do you think they will send me to a urologist? I took 2 of the strongest antibiotics out there. I am allergic to sulfa/Bactrim.

Any Ideas? Do you think I will need a Urodynamics or cystoscopy?

Thank you in advance for listening!!!!
