How long does it take for patch hrt to enter system?

Okay, I got sick again , etc, on Thursday, Friday, Saturday as my own estrogen (or maybe it's progesterone? think I ovulated this month) shifted downward. When I'm producing my own stuff, 1/2 Vivelle .05 seems to keep me feeling pretty good. Adding 1/4 more when my own hormones kick out worked last month. This time, no. So I put on a whole patch Friday a.m. and thought I felt better. By last night, I'm feeling like barfing again, anxious, hard heart beats, no appetite, insomnia, hot flashes that just stayed until I was all red like a lobster. This would have been about 36 hours after putting on a whole patch.

Okay, that was long, but my question is: Once I put on a new patch, about how long does it take to enter my system and start having an effect?

I felt kinda lousy today, until this evening and I'm starting to feel more normal. Oh yeah, I must confess that I got so wired last night that I cut the patch back to 3/4. Too many changes when my own hormones are changing at the same time? Just trying to make up for natural fluctuations, but I think I didn't do a very good job.

Since I feel good when I think I've ovulated, then maybe it's progesterone that is responsible for the normal feelings? The otc stuff isn't strong enough. I am trying to get up the strength to see the new dr. again and ask to try prescription prog cream. He did give me the Dot. But it's been such a battle with trying to get prescription prog that I need to gear up for it.

Forgive me, I just feel like a truck hit me these last 3 days and my feistiness has turned into and .

I'm so sorry that you're back in the I'm not sure on the answer to your question about the patch. But I would think that it would get into your system pretty quickly.

I've had the same question many times and coulden't find anything on the web. Then one day I decided to look at the phamlet that came with the patch (not the one that tells you where to place it). It describes the different doses of the patch and the low, mid, high and decline for each dose.

Hope this helps. The compounding pharmacy told me that with all those symptoms that your progesterone may be low.

Good luck and hope this helps.

Thanks libra

Yeah, I'm really thinking it may be a progesterone problem, too. I'll check to see if I have the other pamphlet and see what it says about times, etc. Thanks again. Will report on my luck with the dr. about prog. Linda
