Hormones and Immune System

Has anyone noticed since their hysterectomy being sicker than you used to be. I mean do you get sick more often from what seems like every germ you come in contact with. I am not taking any hormones and had a TAH on 9/16/08. Since then I have had more colds, sore throats, coughs etc.. than I ever remember. So I am wondering if there is a correlation between hormones and your immune system.

Thanks for your input.

Hormones and Immune System

Alice,

It might be that since your body has been recovering it isn't able to fight off the germs. I am only a few days behind you as far as recovery times go. And keep in mind the time of year it is. Most areas are at the peak of cold/flu season right now.

Are you taking any vitamins or supplements? It might be worth talking to your about if you aren't. I wasn't on any ERT for the first 3 months post op and immediately started taking vitamins and supplements, with my doc's approval of course :smilie5: During those first three months, I don't think I got sick at all. I have been on estrogen now for a few months and actually got my first cold a month ago.
