Abdominal Binder

The hospital sent me home with an abdominal binder, however, I have not used it. The nurse at the hospital told me it wouldnt really do me a lot of good due to having a bikini line incision. For the past few days, I have been sore between my belly button and my incision. I'm wondering if the abdominal binder might help with this? Or will that just put more pressure on the sore area and make it worse?

Re: Abdominal Binder

I also had a TAH with BSO and loved my binder after surgery. It made things feel so much better. Support is key! I am 3 weeks post op today and still use it off and on if I am having a bad day.

Re: Abdominal Binder

I own one, but don't like it at all. I have found more comfort in workout pants that are tighter when my stomach is feeling heavy. My belly is much less swollen now, so it is much less of a problem.

Re: Abdominal Binder

I loved mine. I felt like my insides would fall out without it on. I had a vertical incision though, but I would think the support would make your tummy feel better.

Re: Abdominal Binder

I had a TAh with a bikini line horizontal incision...my binder was my LIFE SAVER for four weeks or so. I could tuck ice in it, it held my guts in, it made all the difference while walking or riding in the car!

Re: Abdominal Binder

I am about 5 1/2 weeks post op. and I still wear my binder almost 24/7 my doctor told me to wear it all the time only to take off when showering or washing it, until my 6 week check up. It may pinch every now and then or itch, but I feel very different without it on. I feel much better with it on. I would give it a try it might feel odd at first but maybe it'll help.

Re: Abdominal Binder

I wear my binder when I am laying down or in a reclined position. I found it irritated my incision (bikini line) if I was sitting up straigt. I will be ording the binder from the hyster store to wear when I return to work. I hope it will help with support and swelly belly!
