Fabulous Friday, March 27

Good morning all...it's a fabulous day...sun is shining and birds are singing, and I get to spend the day with DgD..she's cutting with scissors now...so far just paper and not the upholstery! (I cut my mom's curtains when I was about her age...) Watching carefully...now she wants to see the on my computer!

Trying hard for an OP WEEK - I want to get 2.6 + pounds next week...and if i work real hard (this past week was not the most focused for me) - I think I can do it! That will give me 10 pounds this WW session.

B - WW yogurt, 1 pt. cheese, 2 pt. bagel. Vitamins & water.
L - WW lasagna
D- Salad with Tuna
S - oranges...and more WATER

Worked out with DS27 this morning...MANY modifications because of the knee...11 days til surgery.

Enjoy your day!

Re: Fabulous Friday, March 27

Hi Ali & Barri

I'm here. Just not here here. OK confusing I know.

Food: well terrible. Lots of wt gain. I'm hungry all the time. I hate it. I went from still not tolerating carbs a year ago to craving carbs ALL THE TIME........ not good. But I have gone back to the gastric bypass support group hoping to learn something. This particular group is designed for those of us who are more than a couple years out from our surgeries. I'm hoping it will help.

I need a new attitude and an appetite suppresent.

I did get in 2 short walks today. I to the bank & library, then back to the library. Then this evening I took a nice walk with my neighbor. We ended up in a stroll at the very end as we had to stop and talk with someone. But I got in over 3,000 steps with that walk alone.

I need to register on the Challenge for the upcomming year. I'll go there later.

Ali - have you found a house yet? I have missed so much on the chatter thread - I just can't find the time to read back since my few day away.

Hugs to everyone,
M.

We're in here arn't we! :

Re: Fabulous Friday, March 27

Hi, girlies.

Well, I survived my 12-hour fast and had my blood lipid panel drawn yesterday. I have not fully recovered and still feel famished. I'm wondering if hunger is like pain - once it gets a hold on you, it's hard to break. I should hear next week how they are now, but between the Zocor, daily bowl of Cheerios, handfuls of pistacios, and 32 lbs loss, they HAVE to be better, eh?

Ali - we are having a HUGE winter storm pass through since yesterday. Not expected to end until late tomorrow. Can you believe, NO S*** all winter and now that it's spring we may get up to 12"!!! What's up with that?! Streets are flooding already from the rain and I looked out of the window a few minutes ago to see that it's beginning to turn over to snow (oops, I mean s***) now. Enjoy your good weather. This storm's a monster and may make it's way right into Ohio!

Melissa, a colleague tried to get approval for a gastric bypass last year but didn't pass a psychological eval. (IMHO, she's got a lot of emotional baggage that contributes to her massive weight.) Reading your posts about how difficult it has been makes me realize that she could have never handled the surgery and post lifestyle. Hang in there. It sounds like you are going in the right direction by attending the support group.

Barri, This is the first time I've ever had bronchitis and it is still bad after my 4th day on the z-pack. All of the coughing seems to be upsetting my stomach too. How long did it take you to get well?

Re: Fabulous Friday, March 27

Thanks Bonnie - I will hang in. I'll be 5 yrs post gastic bypass (I had the Rue-N-Y in 2004). This too shall pass. I've always kept right at 100 lbs off since then. My body just did it slowly but surely, not super fast as some do.

I gained 20 last year - took almost the entire year to lost it plus 2. So I know it's the "winter" sitting around blah's. I just need to reset my brain and get active again. They are finding out more and more that the longer people are "out post op GBsurgery" the harder it is to keep the wt off. Your new stomach begins to tolerate the carbs & fats again, your stomach stretches, etc.... But I knew it would always be a lifetime commitment. Some people think it will be a magic bullet and never have to think about what they put into their mouths again. WRONG!!!! I used to teach a "reality" portion of a mandatory pre-op class when I was still working at the hospital. I'd tell the patients what your surgeon won't tell you. The hospital staff thought it was great and the surgeons didn't seem to mind either.

I love the warm weather and stay busy always "moving". DH usually asks me "are you ever going to sit" or "what are you doing now". He should move so much.

Bonnie ... I am so sorry you are still sick. I started to feel better on my 5th day of the Z-apk, but I relapsed and today I am finally beginning to feel better (my fever broke), I still have a nasty painful cough and sore chest, but better than it has been. It might be taking you longer to get better, because you are working and not getting the rest you need. Naps were essential to me and I definitly not a nap person.

Hoping that you rest weekend and really begin to feel better.
