Prolapsed uterus

Just figured out I have this - went to the emergency room as I was freaked out but they told me it wasn't urgent.

On the one hand I want to just get the hyst so it's done as it seems like there's a low success rate with PT, pessaries, etc, and I realize I've had this since my second child.

On the other hand, it's major surgery and it looks like there can be major complications.

I just don't want to walk out with nothing more than recommendations on kegels!

Advice and what questions should I ask? (i'm in the UK)

I too was diagnosed with a uterine prolapse 2 1/2 yrs after my second (and last) child, at age 32. I could feel my cervix when I put in a tampon, about 2 inches from the opening.

Well, 22 years later, I had my hysterectomy. Just lived with it until 2 yrs ago, when I asked for a pessary. Wish I had asked sooner - my gyn gave me my options: do nothing, use a pessary or get a hysterectomy. This was back in the olden days, so maybe something else can be done without a hysterectomy now.

The pessary worked GREAT for about a year, then after I hit menopause and had been about 7-8 mo with no periods when I had my yearly exam, my dr asked me if I was "ready to do something about it now." And yes I was, and am glad I did.

BUT, I was definitely not ready in my 30's or even 40's. Depends on how much it bothers you. Good luck1

I had this after my one and only child. Had my surgery as you can see in Dec and feel great now! So happy it's done
