How long do your ovaries go into shock?

Hi all. Does anyone out there know, do your ovaries go into shock after the hysterectomy? I did keep my right ovary, but my primary care physician did blood work on me about a month ago and said I'm in menopause. I have been grouchy, feel like I'm going nuts, very vaginally dry, and am experiencing hot flashes for the first time in my life, ever! I know I'm the right age for it, I guess, 47 years old, but I'm wondering if the surgery can do that. I had mine done vaginally on December 22nd, 2008. Anyone have answers? Thanks

Yes, ovaries can stop functioning for some time after surgery. If you are really having a problem with hot flashes, then your doctor should be able to help you.
I would suggest vaginal cream from the doctor, which will help with the dryness and keep it healthy in that area.
