Lots of pain/pressure peeing after stents is this normal?

I hope someone can help me. I had BSO on 3/17 which involved placing stents into my ureters to kind of highlight them so my OB could see them at all times. I have had a lot of pressure and pain every time I have to pee. Also, by the time I wake up in the morning my back is killing me from the pressure until I get to the bathroom. Any suggestions? Is this normal?
Afraid to pee,

I have not had stents thus don't have any experience to share. However; after my tah/bso and after a previous surgery for ovary removal it did take awhile for my bladder to get back to normal. However; it's never been longer than a week. I think you should contact your doctor.

Re: Lots of pain/pressure peeing is this normal?

Hi, I'm one month ahead of you, but I had the same pressure, each time at the beginning of urinating and again the pressure at the end. I originally thought I had a urinary trac infection, but the analysis came back normal. IMO I think it's from all the swelling of everything, but now I'm fine - been ok for a week - so hang in there it should get better. However, that said.....don't forget if you get fever, blood in urine, call the doctor. Also, may sound crazy, but hydrate, hydrate, hydrate!!! it helps!

I did contact the urologist that performed that part of the surg. Still waiting patiently for them to call me back. In the meantime, I am afraid to drink! I am used to drinking water all day long but now am afraid to. Hope they get back to me soon. Thanks for your insight, and I hope it's all just from them poking around in there!

My best friend and I have both had stents because of kidney stones. Hers were more painful than mine. Both of us ended up with infections from the stents. Our bodies don't exactly like those things, even though they can be necessary! So could you have an infection?

I know it hurts, but I really would encourage you to stay hydrated. Our situations are quite different, but I know I was told to drink, drink, drink, when I had my stent.

I hope you have heard from your urologist and the pain is better! Keep us posted! s

Hi Weiser,
You stated that you were told to drink "when you had your stent".
Did you have your strent taken out? How did they do that if you did? Maybe they will take these out for me. I have been drinking more as painful as it is. It's also a huge inconvenience! I have to know where all the bathrooms are located again, just like when I was 9 months pregnant! I did have a urinalysis done last week because of the pain and it came back normal. I am going to call the urologist today if I don't hear from them by 10:00 am! Thanks for sharing.....

Re: Lots of pain/pressure peeing after stents is this normal?

Well I finally got through to the urologists office. The nurse told me that it is normal to feel the pressure and pain. She also said that in the OR report the doc took out the stents. So, hopefully I will see an improvement with this over the next week or so. If not, then I have to call them back. This is really the only complaint I have had so all is good. Thanks ladies! and take care!

I hope things improve quickly!

My stent was placed when a kidney stone was removed. The stent was then replaced several days later. For me, the stent was uses to keep my ureter from swelling shut!

in there!

Did they remove it yet or do you have to keep the stent in?
