Hysterectomy: March 26th, 2009
Surgery Type: TAH/SAH
Ovaries: Undecided
Numbness & Itchiness at Incision Site

I had hysterectomy on 3/26/09 and it was done abdominally. I have numbness and itchiness at the incision site. Any suggestions to help with this?

The numbness is normal - you Doc cut thru LOTS of nerves to do your TAH. SOme sensation will return over time. As to the itch - try a Vit E based lotion or Mederma to help your skin heal.

like co_dreamz said, the numbness is normal, it takes a while (weeks) for the numbness to go away. as for the itchiness, I would call your doctor and see what he suggests you do, in the meantime, keep it clean and dry....
