Re: Two weeks post op - still hurting

Yes. You are only two weeks out it takes time to heal. As to hurting when going to the bathroom make sure your stool is soft. Eat high fiber foods and drink pleantly of water. If you have to use a stool softner - it helps.

I am a large lady and started out with a hangy tummy. I had a TAH BSO and my doc had to "open me wide". I am a slow healer so I am still very sore in the tummy muscles.

Give yourself time. The "normal" recovery time is 6 to 8 weeks. So you may be sore for a while. However if you are in PAIN talk to your doctor he/she may want to see you.

Re: Two weeks post op - still hurting

I had some pretty bad pain for the first 2 1/2 weeks. Then in week 3, I suddenly felt better only to overdo it and have a slight setback. I had TAH on 3/11 (4 wks + 1 day post op) and finally feel pretty normal except for tiring easily. Don't rush it - you'll get there!

As far as the pain you have going to the bathroom - keep taking stool softeners - even if you don't think that you still need them. I had a lot of pain in my bladder for about 3 1/2 weeks everytime I went. I dreaded the end of the stream because that's when the pain seemed to be worse. I'm happy to report that this has also almost completely gone away. I try to go frequently because my bladder still hurts if over-full.

Hope this helps - you're still very early in recovery. I'm sure next week will be much better!

Yes it's normal. It may not feel like it but you are still very early in your healing. It does keep getting better each day!
