Vaginal Dryness and swelling 1 year on

Hi, It has been almost 1 year since my Total Hysterectomy. In the last 5 months I found that I have been getting vaginal dryness which is very sore and then the whole area starts to swell. At first I noticed this occasionally after sex and now it seems to happen more regularly and for no reason. I still have my ovaries so I thought I wouldn't have this problem but I am assuming that because I no longer have my cervix there is not enough discharge being produced and now even walking can be uncomfortable. Please help I really don't know what to do to prevent this.

You may also be in need of some vaginal estrogen. You may not be producing enough to reach the vaginal tissues and they are in need of a little help. You should contact your doctor and let him/her know about this problem. There is probably an easy fix.

You can use estrogen inserts, or you could try an otc vaginal moisturizer.
