Could it be Endo, Cancer...?

Hi, I am new here, I am 32 and have two children, one teen, one preteen. I have had bloating, eat very small meals(feel full fast), pelvic stabbing pain, back ache, frequent urination, and if my bladder is full, it feels like a knife cutting me through. Feb of 2008, my pain worsened and they did an ultrasound and said there was 2 complex cysts on the left ovary, one being 4.3 cm. They gave me bc pills and I had another ultrasound which showed one cyst that enlarged to 4.6 cm and one was gone, an mri was reccomended. I did the mri in june and the mri stated a cystic lesion on the left adnexa measuring 4.7 cm that demonstrated septations and there is a focal nodule on the anterior aspect measuring 7mm that does not enhance after administering gadolinium. The entire lesion enhances avidly after gadolinium. There is an inferior septation with smaller rounded areas. and fluid was noted in the endometrial canal. I was referred to an obgyn, but he did not recieve the MRI report and gave bc pills to try again and we moved to Italy (military). I took the pills for 4 months and stopped, because we are trying for a thrid child, the pain continued. I went to do an ultrasound at the italian ivf clinic, that morning I had severe pain. He just said that there was a very large mass on my left ovary that needed to be seen by my reg dr. So, I went to see a dr. at the military hosp. and referred me again to obgyn and I have another ultrasound on Monday. I have heard possibilities of malignancy, hysterectomy, ovary removal, or maybe endometriosis. Has anyone had a similar mri? Confused!!!

Re: Could it be Endo, Cancer...?

Oh Monroe, I can so relate to you right now! Im a military wife and know what you are dealing with! Heres my story and I hope you find some comfort in it....(Just remember, this is my story and yours may be different!)

I have had one lap surgery 4 1/2 years ago via civilian Dr and lost my left ovary die to a HUGE ovarian cyst. Fast forward to Feb 23.....I was having HORRIBLE abdominal pain and made my husband (army guy) rush me to the ER (civilian ER thank you! LOL). They did a cat scan, Xrays and an ultrasound and found 8 cm worth of a mass on my reamining right ovary. The er dr said I neded to go see my regular military Dr. Well, I get an appointment to see her, then she gives me a referral to see the Military OB./GYN.....a week later the military Ob/Gyn gives me a 2 minute ultrasound and says "you need to go see an Oncologist" I was FLOORED! He knew my history of endometriomas but he still insisted that i see a cancer specialist instead of a civilian Ob/Gyn who could do the surgery (for some reason, military docs arent wanting to do surgeries on dependants here in GA). Anyways..... FSAT FORWARD 5 WEEKS OF WAITING TO SEE THE ONCOLOGIST! LOL

I go into his office after not eating for 5 weeks cause I am terrified now that I have Ovarian cancer. My CA-125 numbers were "elevated" per the military Ob/Gyn at 75. The Oncologist I saw is spouted as being the best in town......After going thru everying, seeing the films and reading the numbers, even doing a pelvic on me, he just shook his head. He said there was a 1% chance of my cysts being cancerous! He doesnt understand why the military Dr scared the living poo out of me for such a small number! But apparently he gets military women all the time who have been terrified from these Drs who give them the "worst case scenario" .

Now I am seeing a regular civilian Ob/Gyn who has started me on birth control pills. He believes mine are Endometriomas like I do, but he has to try the BC pills to make sure he cant get them to shrink a little that way. I find out on May 7th if/when I have to have surgery.

If you just have to have the cyst removed, don't worry, the Lap procedure is very easy to get thru. (For me it was at least and Im a whimp!) The scariest is waiting for your Versed to make you loopy!

I am looking at a hysterectomy right now (and Im only 38) cause if I lose my last ovary, why should I keep my uterus? There is a history of uterine fibroids in my family and I dont want to keep dealing with this.

Please keep the faith and pray to whoever hears yoru prayers. The Oncologist tol me not to worry until the Oncologist tells you to!

Ill pray for you that this all turns out the best for you! But try not to be too scared already, wait and get another u/s and go from there!

Re: Could it be Endo, Cancer...?

Thanks, I just have to rely on military drs. here as we are in Italy. Just found out today that the Ultrasound machine broke and won't be able to find out how much it has grown since last summer. Told to keep appt. with obgyn. Husband(a marine) is in Germany getting the Nissen surgery for Barret's Esoph. Crazy stuff! I think it is probably endo, but I really hope I keep my fertility!!! Thanks again!
