Unhappy - surgery 6 weeks ago tomorrow and i already feel prolapsed in my rectum and bladder surgery 6 weeks ago tomorrow and i already feel prolapsed in my rectum and bladder

i had surgery...a TVH with A&P repairs 6 weeks ago tomorrow

i already think i am prolapsed again and that is why i have pain every day....

i will ask my doctor about it tomorrow...BUT..if i have prolapsed again i am going to a urogynecologist the next time if i need more surgery......

i was in such a hurry to get my surgery done on everybody else's time table...

because my husband doesn't drive and my son was only going to be here a certain amount of time to drive (one week)

so i had to drive at right before two weeks...after sending our 16 year old to the store every day walking for a week...

( i was told i could drive at 2 weeks..i did it two days sooner)

anyway....i should have listened on this board about how a gyn is not as good as a urogyn

but i was in such a danged hurry i just did it and hoped everything would work out for the best.....

Re: surgery 6 weeks ago tomorrow and i already feel prolapsed in my rectum and bladde

jamesgirl, I hope everything works out for you! There are so many different ways to repair prolapses, some better then others, and some are done I am sure based on how prolapsed your parts are.

I did choose a uro-gyn, thanks to this board. I did have a stage 3 pelvic prolapse of everything - my vagina was prolapsing along with my uterus too - and that is why I choose the surgery I did. HOWEVER, my mother did have vaginal repairs 20 years ago by a reg gyn - and all has held up, so some are successful !!

Even though I did choose the best doctor I could find, they did make it clear - there is no guarantee of success. Keep us posted.

Re: surgery 6 weeks ago tomorrow and i already feel prolapsed in my rectum and bladde

My doctor actually told me I could start driving again after 1 week. My SIL who is a doctor told me that if you are driving an automatic with all the modern stuff like power steering and power brakes, that driving wasn't likely to do much harm anyway -- they mostly tell you not to do that because of the liability to themselves should something happen. I really doubt that driving 2 days early would have hurt anything, unless you were forced to do something drastic like slamming on the brakes. (I drove a couple of times during my first week home - was just really careful)

I'm not quite 5 weeks out from surgery myself, but am still having some pain as well, but the doctor has told me that it's perfectly normal to have it for at least the first 6 weeks, and possibly even longer.

Is there anything, other than the pain, that makes you think you have prolapsed again? Hopefully you are wrong and when you go for your exam tomorrow you'll find out that everything is in place.

Re: surgery 6 weeks ago tomorrow and i already feel prolapsed in my rectum and bladde

I should have mentioned, I do still have discomfort - a heaviness and achy... but I just expect that as being part of recovery. I think with this type of surgery we have to allow 6-12 months for a FULL recovery.

Re: surgery 6 weeks ago tomorrow and i already feel prolapsed in my rectum and bladde

yaaay good news! i am not prolapsed... i don't know why i feel so ...well like you said Princess heavy down there and sore.....but...i haven't prolapsed...

she says everything looks great.... i am not to lift weights though but she wants me to start with areobic activity and i can go back to doing my yoga.. woo hoo!

i didn't actually find out what type of daily weight lifting restrictions i have though so i guess i will have to call back.. felt a little rushed today..usually she takes all the time you need.......

she said my stitches still haven't finished dissolving....... so no sex for one more week... yeah like i will feel up to it in a week! i doubt it! ugh

anyway...still on pain meds...but not a lot a day...maybe one or two pills a day....

the reason i thought i was prolapsed was the achy heavy feeling that made it feel like i did before surgery.... and...i was having some trouble with peeing and pooping...... like when poop would be coming out my pee would stop and then my pee would start back...

(TMI..i am sure)

thanks for the support ladies!

i agree that the recovery time is to be expected to be longer.... than the initial 6-8 weeks

hugs,
jamesgirl

Re: surgery 6 weeks ago tomorrow and i already feel prolapsed in my rectum and bladde

Hi I think it has been 9 weeks since my A&P repairs and I think I have prolapsed again every day. Today I was sure it had happened. I also urinate and then have a bowel movement and then the urine flow starts again. Today I felt pressure and leaked a bit of urine while walking. I have not done anything at all that I shouldn't in recovery. It is so difficult. I am back at work (office work) definitely no lifting but being on my feet does seem to make things worse.
It is hard to get in to a routine of having a normal bowel movement while having to leave for work and rushing. It was so much easier during my recovery to take time to let nature take its course.
I feel the heaviness and pressure sometimes, sometimes I think I have leaked urine and I have not.
I guess it's all recovery..

Re: surgery 6 weeks ago tomorrow and i already feel prolapsed in my rectum and bladde

Just so you know feeling like "it failed" it SO normal for all prolapse patients. i am 4 mos post op and still panic almost everyday...run check with a mirror and a finger and then say "oh I'm fine"! Making sure you care for your repairs longterm is what helps. No heavy lifting, bend at the knees to pick things up instead of at the waist etc. kegels I do 50-100 a day o stay strong down there. Also in weeks 6-9 i felt more swollen down there then in the beginning so keep that in mind. Dr's say 8 weeks your healed but they mean the actual wound, the underlying tissues and scar tissue take much longer to heal so it's very important to continue to go slow and don't lift things. you only have one chance to heal!!

Re: surgery 6 weeks ago tomorrow and i already feel prolapsed in my rectum and bladde

thanks ladies....

yeah i am still under lifting restrictions..... although i am not totally clear on what they are... lol.... just nothing too heavy...

so i will keep it light...but i did do yoga today for the first time since surgery and i really really enjoyed that...

thanks for reassuring me that feeling like i have prolapsed again is normal... i definitely don't want to go through ANOTHER surgery.. yikes!

and i totally agree only one chance to heal right

hugs

Re: surgery 6 weeks ago tomorrow and i already feel prolapsed in my rectum and bladde

Krazykatt, glad to know we are 'normal' LOL.. I too have checked - because I felt I was prolapsing again.

Here I am 4 weeks post op, I DO feel a real heaviness, and especially before a BM. I also pee after I have a (TMI) BM, but oh how thankful I am to pee now!! 3 weeks with a catheter was not fun!

I wish the best for ALL of us! I so agree with being careful about future lifting, it's important.

Re: surgery 6 weeks ago tomorrow and i already feel prolapsed in my rectum and bladde

i have BMs like three or four times a day and the pressure before one is pretty bad......

sometimes i even think i can feel my small intestines moving on top of my vaginal cuff...and sometimes after a really big fast BM..i feel really empty inside like..so weird......

hope that wasn't TMI
