TVH plus Bladder sling, feels like sling is pulling?

I am new here so forgive me if someone else has posted this and I haven't found it yet. I had my surgery on the 8th of April. I feel so much better then I thought that I would at this point, BUT I feel like the stitches that I can see from my sling are pulling. They aren't swollen, but feel like they are and that is why I am having that pulling feeling. Boy, I really hope that ti makes sense. I had to self cath for the first few days of being home so I got to see that area very well. When I look now, it looks as if there are 2 pieces of skin when prior to this there was only one. Is that normal? I am not sure if this is something that I should be calling the dr about or what to do?

BTW, this place rocks!! I wish that I would have stumbled across it before I had my surgery instead of last night.

Oh my! Not sure about the sling, as I didnt have one, but I would really encourage you to call the doctor just to be safe. If it is nothing to worry about, then no harm done. On the other hand, if it is something that needs to be checked, then it could save you a lot of trouble in the future. Good luck and keep us posted here!

Thanks. I tired to look there last night and gave up. I will try again though. It is great that there is a place like this that I can use as a reference of sorts. I know that there is no substitute for a dr, but it is great to know that I am not crazy!

Re: TVH plus Bladder sling, feels like sling is pulling?

I've had the TVH and bladder sling, but I don't have that feeling of pulling like you mentioned.
My recommendation is to call your dr and get it checked out.
It does take a while for the bladder to feel somewhat normal again, my dr said probably about 6 weeks as it is slow to heal, but what you wrote about doesn't seem like normal healing.
Please call your dr.

That was me. I had the bladder sling but I could not pee a drop - and had a catheter in for 3 weeks. My sling was too tight, and I did feel pulling - which did go away after surgery 7 days ago. He 'cut' and loosened the sling. But if you aren't having any urination issues, then perhaps it is just pulling from healing?

Re: TVH plus Bladder sling, feels like sling is pulling?

Well, I am also leaking a little, I noticed it today. So I called my GYN (because I don't like the Uro) and asked for them to see me. The URO is almost an hour away and today is the first day that I traveled at all. I took some Motrin and I am feeling a little bit better but something just doesn't feel right. I am hoping that it is just normal healing. I don't see the dr until Friday. I am ok with that...just not ready to make a hour trip right now to be seen sooner.

I do appreciate the responses. I also think that it is the 'look' of things that have me put off a little. Things to me don't look the same down there. Of course, I have never had major surgery like this before so maybe that is what it is suppose to look like?! I guess I will find out soon.

Thanks Ladies!!! You all ROCK!!!!

Re: TVH plus Bladder sling, feels like sling is pulling?

Just in case anyone is wondering, I go tomorrow for a check up with my gyn. I will report here what I find out. Although, I am no longer in pain, I am still going just to put my mind at ease.
