Still sore

I had my TAH in Feb. 09. Wondering when my incision scar will start to fade. Doc said it takes time but just curious. Also, had a hernia repair with it. I'm still achy when I p/u certain things, laundry baskets, gallon of milk, pushing a shopping cart and unloading groceries. Usually around my navel area. Otherwise, I'm feeling pretty good. Doc said no running or working out with weight machines for awhile. Anyone out there with similar aches?

Re: Still sore

I had my TAH in March and I still get those kind of aches when I do to much or my pants are to tight! I wonder when they will go away for good!

Re: Still sore

hey there,

Ladies dont forget we all had major surgery. I really dont care about the scars as I have had cancer since I was 13yo (im 47yo now) To me as long as I am alive I really dont care about the scars.Of course it going to hurt when to lift grocery bags and anything heavy it is pulling on your stomach. Im back to playing sport (against my drs wishes) but taking it easy. The worst thing I get is the tiredness where I feel I could sleep forever. I have lost a massive amount of weight as my taste buds have changed (I have no idea why)

Be easy on yourself it is going to take time, if you rush it it will only get worse. We women dont get any hereos badges or parades for getting things straight away or doing things too early. Take one day at a time and let your body heal. I had my op on the 10th March, 2009. I am very lucky that I heal very quickly as I was out of bed walking withon 8 hours of the op.

Take the time and before you know it you will be back to normal.

Glenda

Re: Still sore

Njl..I'm at 4 months and my scar is looking pretty good. Still a little purple but fading. I still have some pain when I'm pushed up against something...like the chair or kitchen counter.

Bear...my pants are starting to fit better...even getting a little loose, but I haven't weight myself yet...take care ladies and give yourselve time. Listen to Holid....don't be heros.

Re: Still sore

Dear NJL I am still dealing with with these things as well at 8 weeks post op. If I do to much I will be in pain and get tired very easily. I work and have found that if I work nothing gets done at home and if I do someting at home I don't work, I still can't do both things yet. It is hard because alot of people don't understand how we feel they think because it has been 2 months that we should be back completely. But my body is still saying no! Take care of yourself!
