Glue came off and top layer of skin is open - is this normal?

ok...so now I some of the glue they glued me back together with just came off, and the top layer of skin came open...it freaked me out! is this normal...help

You need to call the doctor right away. If it is after hours, then I am sure there is an answering service. If not, please call the hospital where you had your surgery and ask the nurse there. This I don't believe would be normal, as my doctor told me if any of the incision came open, to call immediately. Please do this and keep us posted here!

Mine started to come off in the shower today. I just dabbed a little neosporin on it and kept going. I had mine done on 4/16, so your healing should be nearly the same as mine. Good luck!

Call the dr to be on the safe side. But I would just use some bandaid butterflies on it. I hope that everything is ok.

I had to go in twice for one of mine. I had tried to use the butterfly stirps on my own but it didn't work. The first time they gave me to a nurse who cleaned it with a mix of sterile water and hydrogen peroxide. Then she put the real good steri-strips on to keep it closed and got me a script for antibiotics. I left the strips on for a week and then wanted to check myself to see if it got better. I still wasn't sure so I called and they had me come in to see the doc this time. She said it was better and that from now on to clean it twice a day with peroxide and keep covered with a band-aid.

The only confusing thing was that my doc said she didn't like that the nurse put the strips on because it was too close to an open wound. It does look fine now.

Always better to call and have them check you out.

I had one of my incisions come open. The glue came off three weeks in, but it was still an open wound. I had to clean it with hydrogen peroxide and water three times a day until it healed. I used regular gauze bandages as per the doctor's recommendation, not butterfly bandages. I would recommend seeing your doctor as soon as possible about it.

so ...I had my mom and my husband look at the area that came open and we thought that it looked ok till this morning. I called the Dr right away. Last night of course I cleaned it and kept it dry...now I am hoping they will call me in to put something on it like steri strips because it is in a skinfold and I am having a hard time keeping it dry. You guys are great. Thanks for the great responses and for caring.
