Heart Shaped Uterus
I am scheduled for a TAH on June 1st, the reason I am having a hysterectomy is because I have a heart shaped uterus and very hard periods. My doctor tells me and if there is cancer and it is up in the horns which she calls them, she will not know until they operate on me. I was wondering if any one has gone through this.

Re: Heart Shaped Uterus
Hi, Ksea! I didn't have the same type of operation or a cancer concern; but I do know that unfortunately there is alot doctors can't tell us about our female organs until they take a look. It's frustrating but true. Is there a suspicion of cancer? Have you had cancer before?
Please keep searching the site; there's alot of terrific information. Keep posting as you get other questions or need people who understand what you're going through.

Re: Heart Shaped Uterus
Hi Ksea
One of my best friends has a similarly-shaped uterus. Although she has never shown any signs of uterine cancer, her doctors have also told her that if there are any symptoms that show, the usual biopsy process won't work on her.
Is there any particular reason to be concerned about cancer right now, or is the surgery because of your difficult periods? If you haven't done so already, it might be worth having a conversation with you just to review all of your options and how they would work for you. A hysterectomy is a major surgery, and it's important to know that it really is the best option.
I'm glad you found us. The women here were so helpful to me as I was preparing for my surgery and then recovering from it.

Re: Heart Shaped Uterus
Thank You fritzi64 and nmrider,
It helps to know other people have been through this, no I have never had cancer thank goodness.
My doctor is concern because my periods are exteremly heavy and I have alot of pain with my left ovarie which she says is not normal.
I am now 34 days out and I am getting really nervous it is all I think about, I just wish I could not think about it for just one day.
