Nagging nighttime cough??

The last couple of nights I wake up coughing like crazy (does not feel good on the belly either) and it last for a few hours.

No pain, no blood, and not a cold. I called the doctors office and the nurse said it may be the after affects of the anesthesia working its way out of my body.

Has anyone experienced this??

Hope all are healing well

Re: Nagging nighttime cough??

I coughed quite a bit for about a week, maybe a little longer. I was told the same, it is the anesthesia and your lungs clearing it all out. Which is also why the nurses keep telling you to take deep breaths after the surgery.

I had some cough drops in my pockets and used those when the coughing was too much. Drinking some water helps too. But the best really is to hug your pillow like there is no tomorrow and cough it all out.

Thanks, oh ya, the pillow is a must. I was feeling pretty good until the cough started!

Thank you!!
