Vaginal Cuff Repair

My husband and I had intercourse 3 months after my laproscopic hysterectomy. Felt a terrible pain and got up and blood was everywhere. Had to have emergency surgery because perinneal fluid was leaking into the vagina. I am back at work 3 weeks after the emergency surgery but I am very, very leery of doing anything that may cause any other problems. As for sex, don't know if that'll ever happen again because of my paranoia. I followed the doctor's instructions after the hysterectomy and didn't have intercourse for 3 months -- after the emergency surgery, my doctor made me feel as if I did do something wrong. Will I ever be the same again?

you didn't do anything wrong.... you waited like you were supposed to.... i don't blame you for being wary...

i think if anybody did something wrong it was the doctor who sewed you up in the first place......

i don't have any good advice.... or know if you'll be able to get past this... but i hope that you can and that you do......

i was worried when i first had sex this past Sunday morning.... (early like 3 or 4 am).....because i still have stitches even...but was cleared for sex at 7 weeks (so we did it one day early)

but i had my husband go in shallow... and that helped......

also you might want to seek therapy for your feelings... feelings of guilt when you did nothing wrong.... and for the feeling wary of sex... (which i believe is completely normal...just having someone to talk to might help you get over it sooner)

also i would change doctors..... and get a second opinion..... about when you can have sex etc.....

Thank you for your kind words. I know when I went to the emergency room that night and was told I had to have surgery, I got mad at the world. I'm not one to like laying around and being dependent upon anyone so it's been hard having a 2nd surgery after 3 months. Just reading different things on this site has been really helpful. My doctor told me the emergency was really a rare condition, but after reading the stories on this site, I see that it's really not all that rare and that does help. Now as for the sex.... it still will be a long while. Good thing I have a very understanding husband who is just as leery as me since that fiasco.

a second surgery would be hard to deal with after all that recovery time....
