Laparoscopy, ablation and tubal ligation ~ what can I expect?

Hi ladies -

I'm having a laparoscopy for suspected endo, an ablation for heavy bleeding, and a tubal liagation on Monday. Anybody have any experience with these procedures? Just wondering how bad I'm going to feel after and how limited my mobility will be. Thanks!

Re: Laparoscopy, ablation and tubal ligation ~ what can I expect?

I had all three, but not at the same time. Laproscope for ovarian cysts, (day surgery..couple days rest, back to work in 3 days), Ablation (day surgery, cramping for about a day, back to work in 2 days), tubal ligation (day surgery, slight cramping, back to work in 2 days). THEN, I had a hysterectomy (2 days in hospital, 6-8 week recovery). THe best advice I have, is just listen to your body, it WILL tell you what you can and can't do. Hope this helps.

Thanks for replying. I'm very nervous about all of this. I've been bleeding almost daily for 18 months and I'm hoping this will stop all of that.

You poor thing, 18 months??!!, I bled for 6 months, and thought that was bad. Everybody gets nervous. I'm sure you are gonna be just fine. Use these boards, it is a wealth of information, don't know what I would have done without my "sisters"

Re: Laparoscopy, ablation and tubal ligation ~ what can I expect?

I see you are in Philly - I'm in West Chester - not too far! I have had horrible periods since they started when I was 11 (18 years ago) HEAVY bleeding, HORRIBLE cramps. They have always been debilitating. I went on the pill when I was fairly young b/c of this and it was all well controlled for about 5-6 years. Then I just started to bleed constantly from the hormones. I went off the pill and went back to the bad periods. The last 18 months I have been on 4 different pills, hormone replacement therapy, and had Mirena fitted - the results of all were contstant bleeding. My doc is convinced it's endo - but who knows! I just want it stop!

Re: Laparoscopy, ablation and tubal ligation ~ what can I expect?

Northeast Phila. very close to Huntingdon Valley. My period and cramps have always been a royal pain. I will say that the ablation worked for me really well for about a year, then the fibroids and ovarian cysts took over. Who ever came up with the word "the curse" truly knew what they were talking about.
