Trachelectomy after SLH

I had a SLH July of last year, recovery went really well, other than one occasion of bleeding three months afterwards, no problems.

Until recently.

Pelvic pain ranging from annoyingly uncomfortable to outright PAIN when the cervix is touched.:burning:

My GYN has me scheduled for a trachelectomy (surgical removal of the cervix) on 5/29. He said the only way they can tell what's going on is laproscopic and feels it's either adhesions or the endo came back. Either way he feels the best course is to have the cervix taken out.

Now, to let y'all know, it doesn't bother me the thought of my cervix being removed. The rest of the uterus is gone already.

I'm just curious if this has happened to anyone else?

Re: Trachelectomy after SLH

i havent this problem but i have read that its best to remove the cervix during a hysterectomy if you have endo because endo can grow on it after surgery. hopefully once you have the cervix removed, you will be pain free! good luck with your surgery and recovery

Re: Trachelectomy after SLH

I am sorry you are needing a trachelectomy! There are other ladies here on the site who have needed this second surgery and most of them have posted here in the Road Less Traveled forum.

Will you be having surgery with an endometriosis specialist this time? Besides having the cervix removed, will your surgeon be able to excise any endometriosis that is found? The key for those of us with endo is to have as much endo as possible removed. Many of us who have surgery with our GYNs end up with cauterization of endo and that is not the most effective treatment method.

I hope your surgery goes well and any endo and adhesions are taken care of during surgery! If you have specific endo questions, feel free to post those in the Endometriosis Support.

Sending lots of s and best wishes your way!
