Also, the incision site is red and has this really strange filmy liquid on it that smells really badly!!! WHAT THE HECK IS THAT ABOUT?! I mean, what should I do about that? Anyone know?

Re: Oh! Help! Asap! Ew!!!

WHen I tried over the counter meds for a yeast infection it did not work at all. The pain got so bad that I eventually went into a walk in clinic. The Dr said after I told him about the over the counter meds I took that they really are not recommended. Most bacteria nowadays seem to be resistant to the over the counter stuff.....I am sorry and I hope this helps

Re: Oh! Help! Asap! Ew!!!

Hello DW...the only thing I can tell you is what has helped me for yeast infections. I'm allergic to the OTC's so I would have to call for diflucan. But for me to get quick relief...I would wash and then put vasaline on the outside of my vagina to keep the itching down. With you just having your hyst...it worries me about what you can do. I'm also concerned about the smell coming from your incision. That could be a sign of infection. You need to get a hold of a doctor....what about your GP? Check and see if there is a doctor on call at the office...you do need attention. Eatting yogart will also help with yeast infections. Please get a hold of someone.

Re: Oh! Help! Asap! Ew!!!

DW, I really think you've got an infection on your incision. You cannot treat that yourself and you cannot wait until Monday. Surely your doctor's office has someone on call and you can leave and message and they'll call you back? Otherwise, you're really going to have to either go to a walk-in clinic or to the emergency room. This CANNOT wait!

Re: Oh! Help! Asap! Ew!!!

Call your Dr. office phone number and find out who is on call for the practice. Report both the incision issue and the yeast infection.

You can probably safely put a triple antibiotic ointment on the incision for the time being like Bacitracin or Neosporin. Your Dr. really needs to know about this before Monday.

The yeast infection will drive you out of your mind until Monday. The over the counter treatments go into the vagina and you should have a Dr.s o.k. before doing that. If you make a phone call and again find out who is on call for the practice they will likely use a single dose pill called Diflucan, and you will be feeling better in 24-48 hours. I would also check and see if it is o.k to use the over the counter cream on the external portion of the vagina to help control the itching.

Hurry up and call so tha you can get treatment started and get relief down there soon!!!!!!

I agree, you don't want to put any OTC in your vagina this soon post op.

Your should have some sort of answering service or information on an answering maching. I would try to have him paged.

You most certainly do not want to suffer through the weekend. I hope you can get some answers today.
