low thyroid and hot flashes, no hrt

Right now I'm not on any HRT. I had a bad reaction to Estrace and haven't taken any since March 18th. I'm waiting to get results of thyroid tests I had last Mon. I've been on meds for low thyroid for over a year now. I've read that low thyroid can cause night sweats and am wondering how true that is. I do have them. My dr. only has me on the lowest dose of Eltroxin .05mg. I'm beginning to wonder if my low thyroid is what caused my symptoms and made us think I was allergic to the Estrace when I wasn't. Has anyone else had this happen to them?

I recently received a letter from my insurance company that says "Estrace and Estratest are being phased out from production". Fine by me....spent the last 10 years on the Estratest and can't really say that it did much more than control the hot flashes. My thyroid has been a problem for at least 10 years, but in my case the synthroid helps tremendously. I'm HRT free since Jan. Have one or two hot flashes a day...my MD asked how I dealt with it...told her if they were bad enough I just stand in front of the freezer and open the door. Actually having good luck with Evening Primrose Oil...but as in all things, what works for me, may not work for anyone else.
