I am new here... (children mentioned)

Hi Everyone,

I have been lurking here for a while and finally took the plunge and finally joined in all the fun Here is a little backround info about me. I am 30 years old and I have a 17 month old daughter. Back in January I started having irregular menstrual cycles with bad cramping. I then found this "mass" that I had no idea what it was. I went to my OB and was diagnosed with uterine prolapse (that was the mass) along with a rectocele and cycstocele. I also just found out that I need the bladder sling procedure too. Surgery is scheduled for June 11th and I have to say the anxiety has set it and i am freaking out. I am really scared about the surgery, especially the recovery. I have a 17 month old at home and I can't even imagine not being able to pick her up for 6 weeks. I am also worried about caring for the house and my husband during that time. My husband will be taking off the first week after surgery and my mom will be coming down to help out too. But after that my husband will be working from home. He thinks he is going to be able to take care of the house, work from home and take care of me and our daughter. I just feel like he is going to need extra help and he insists that he will have it all under control.

The reason I think my recovery is going to be so painful/long is because I also have fibromyalgia too which is going to complicate the recovery. I just think my husband is in denial about the severity of the surgery and recovery. Am I just being negative? Or is he being unrealistic?

WEll, that is me in a nutshell. I look forward to knowing you all

Welcome dew!
I'm sure that if you need to start a post and you include fibro in your title, you will get lots of good advice from our sisters with similar experiences. Your husband sounds like a real trooper. I hope everything goes great for you. Please keep us posted!

I think you will be fine and I KNOW husbands can do alot more then they let on lol.
I had to go out of town for a week to a funeral and when I came home the house was kept clean kids were fed and happy also in bed ontime .Healthy meals ,clean dishes "almost" done laundry .
Do you think I can get him to do ANY of that when im home NOT A CHANCE.
My hubby is taking 6 days off 4 of them I will be in the castle so I have 2 days with him then he is on Night shifs so he is at work all day and sleeping all day .
The way I think about it is dont worry about the mess it will wait for me till im better lol
take care of yourself and relax

Take some well lived advice. Do all your childs needs on your knees, get down to her level, let her sit on your legs, you can still love her up and bond with her.. or have her climb on the bed or sofa, you dont need to pick her up. Its best for a great healing!!! Also, let your hubby do the house FOR PETES sake it will not be as good as you, but dont tell him that, just thank him and hug him. REMEMBER.. this, anyone comes calling and the house is messy, tell them the house was clean last week, sorry you missed it!! LIFE will go on and so will you. YOU HAVE ONE chance to heal right, DONT BLOW IT. I have read too many posts saying they over did it or scar tissues build up from over use SOOOO PLEASE be careful.. dont lift, and dont over do.. GOOD LUCK AND HAPPY HEALING

Hi Dew and I am new here too and it here and I know you are loving it too!!!

You brought up a VERY good point about having Fibro and being operated on. I just got diagnosed a couple months ago with Fibro and have only had one really bad attack so I have been wondering myself how my up coming surgery will affect my Fibro.

Why don't you take CMTSP's advice and start a new topic about surgery and having Fibro? I bet you get a lot of responses!!!!

Best of luck with your surgery!!!!!

Re: I am new here... (children mentioned)

Thank you all for your kind words of welcome. It means a ton to know that there are other women out there going through the same thing that I am dealing with.

I am blessed that my hubby is a real trooper and that I know he will do everything that he can to care for me during my recovery. Even now he is being a huge help and going above and beyond to take care of me. Tonight he is taking over baby duty and i am going for an evening at the spa for a massage and facial... WOO HOO!!! I am so excited.

Presouz, thank you for your advice. I too have read some post of women over doing it after surgery and really paying for it in the end. I am planning on following the doctors advice and resting and not lifting my daughter. She is a climber (unfortunately) but I guess in this instance it will come in handy. I know that she will be able to climb up on my lap and still have her cuddle time with me everyday. I can't imagine going through recovery without having her right there.

Oh, and I plan on starting another post about Fibro and the recovery.. but right now I need to go rest. I spent the morning steam cleaning the carpets since the dog pooped all over the playroom ... now doesn't that sound like fun??

Best of luck to you in everything. You will probably want to keep a pillow with you to keep over your tummy for protection when your daughter is around. Her climbing will come in handy now.
