Stenotic cervix--should I have a hysterectomy?

I'm 24 and was told at the age of 9 that I would have to have a hysterectomy by the time I reached 24. I got raped when I was 16, became pregnant and almost died while having the baby. The baby was also going to be pronounced dead then started screaming and breathing. After having her I realized I was truly blessed. 6 years later I find the man of my dreams and want another child and I find out that I have a stenotic cervix. They tried to open it and nothing happened and all that happened was me being put through pain for 30 minutes. Went to another Dr., same thing happened. My question is, if I can't use my equipment should I have a hysterectomy? I've always had heavy horrible bleeding since I was nine and can't function for 6 days out of the month and am permantely animic (sp?) because of my periods. (But, if something can come out...should something be able to get in)

Re: Stenotic Cervix

Hi, DandDGoddess,

Do you want any more children? If so, hysterectomy is not the choice for you, at least until you have as many (biological) children as you want. I'm not sure what to advise you on the stenosis of the cervix. Dialation fixed it for me. I don't know what the choices are if it does not work.

Good luck to you in figuring this out. It can be frustrating, I know.

A hysterectomy is a major surgery that is not without risks so before considering this surgery, are there other options available for you? What type of doctors are you seeing? Have consider seeing someone at a teaching facility? Possibly a pelvic pain specialist could help you.

I hope you find some answers soon to your questions!
