Been on HMT for 1.5 yrs, now not working

I've been on hormone replacement for a full hysterectomy for 1 and 1/2 years and it has been working like a charm (since that initial period of getting the right hormones). But now over the last month the hot flashes, mood swings, etc. are coming back. Once you get this all worked out does it only keep working for a year or two and you have to go back to the trial and error process to find the right levels again!?!

Thanks,
Maria

Maria have you been under additional stress lately or sick? I have heard Kim talk about hormone fluctuations from different things going on whether it be physical illness or emotional stress. How long have your hormones been off. If not long then you may want to try and wait it out for sometime to see if they go back to normal. Maybe Kim will pop in soon to give you some advice

It's been about a month, I've called my dr office and she said because I am so young (34 - I don't call that young) normal fluxuations will occur and that periodically the hormones need to be upped, etc.

Could you tell me what TAH/BSO means? I see these code after women's name, etc. but don't know what they stand for, probably something like full hysterectomy, etc. but can't figure out the initials. Just say duhh!

Thanks

Well 34 is young when it comes to hormone levels. We still produce fairly high doses of hormones so when we have a big drop it effects us tremendously. TAH/BSO Means Total Abdominal Hysterectomy with Bilateral Salpingo oompherectomy (sp) In other words, total abdominal hysterectomy with both ovaries and tubes removed
