NED's left me. Recurrence.

Hi Everybody,
It's been a little while since I've posted. I stop in every now and then to lend encouragement to others but I don't really post all that much.
I was dx with ovca August 2005. Had the 8 chemo, a 2nd look surgery in April 2006.
It's now April 2009 - and it's back. I really thought it just wasn't ever going to come back and I'd beat it.
It started last week...my stomach hurt really bad like I was in labor, but yet with intestinal cramping. But it was very "timed" in the cramps and they were always in the same spot. Well, to make a long story short, I went to see an onc on Monday because the ER docs had no clue of what it could be....he did a simple EXRAY (which I can't believe the ER people didn't do this) and found I had a bowel obstruction. I had emergency surgery Mon night. I just got home from the hosptial an hour or so ago...instead of sitting and resting...I was compelled to come here and, oh I don't know, look for some support.
They removed two sections of bowel. One tumor size of a golf-ball. And a few lesions scattered within the abdomen. They feel they have removed anything visible.
My onc is out for maternity leave for a few weeks, but the onc that was staffing her patients said I wouldn't start chemo for 6 weeks after surgery because of the bowel resection. They need that completely healed first...and my regular onc will be back by then.
I don't know what coctail I'll be getting...just know that I'm getting it. The carbo/taxol worked well the first time...maybe they'll use it again?
My husband...family...all are really taking this very hard. I really really didn't expect it to come now.
Oh, and my CA125 is only 12. It was 9 last checkup, end of February.

Oh (((Pokadot,)))
I'm so sorry. I'll be keeping you and your family in prayer. Two potentially good notes - the docs removing all the visible and the CA125 number staying low.
Pls take good care of yourself as you heal from your surgery so your body will be strong for the upcoming treatments.

Re: NED's left me. Recurrence.

oh my, my heart goes out to you.
It frightens me too.
I will be following your progress, and it will help me get through my chemo. It is so scary that so much of what the drs are doing are based on best guess on what is necessary, what is enough.

Pokadot:
So sorry to hear about your recurrence. I don't think the CA125 is that accurate as mine has always been low prior to surgery and afterward... It seems so unfair to go that long only to start over again.
I hope and pray that you are in remission for a long time to come.

Pokadot,

I'm so sorry to hear about your recurrence. I hope that the surgery you just had and the chemotherapy will have you back dancing with NED again.

Re: NED's left me. Recurrence.

Well, what can we say Polkadot, except to say.......Thank you for giving us the opportunity to provide support to you and your family. I know it can be tough to try to "take on" everything by ourselves through difficult times. I have found that I really need to remmber to reach out to others for support and have definitely found it here. Prayers are always unconditional with me, so you definitely have them coming your way. Please take things slowly and know that we are all just a "post away" for venting and lots of encouragement! Keep your head up!
We are all here for you!

Sheila
