Can you feel part of your repair work through you abdomen wall?
I am 7 weeks post-op.
A big stretch of my abdomen is still completely numb. That's why I was VERY surprised (and worried) when I suddenly felt something very hard but small through my abdomen wall while I was rubbing on some scar cream on my incision the other day.
At first it felt like to head of a large quilting pin and I panicked that maybe something had been left behind accidentally during surgery. But then I can feel that there is more attached to it, deeper.
Has anyone felt something similar? My best guess is that that is the internal stitches that are holding the bladder sling in place?
It isn't painful, just kinda freeky...feeling something "stick out" like that.
I won't have my post-op check-up for another week...sigh...

Re: Can you feel part of your repair work through you abdomen wall?
I have some what of the same question. I had my TAH in Dec 22. My lower abdomen is still numb. At first I thought it was part of my healing now I'm worried. Just call doc to see, waiting for a call back. I was working out yesterday and tried for the first to do some sit up and I couldn't. I hurt not bad but just enough for me not to try it. I felt this big stretch up my stomach start to pull and get hard so I just stoped. Will let you know what the doc says.

Re: Can you feel part of your repair work through you abdomen wall?
Hi veronica37,
thanks for your fast reply. I am curious to hear what your doc will tell you! I hate calling mine, it is always such a trouble to get a hold of her...
Well, my sister, who had 2 c-sections, told me that it is normal to have some areas with numbness. It took her a year the first time to get all the feeling back. Her second child is 1.5 now, and she still has some numbness...
I read somewhere else that sometimes it just doesn't go away at all, due to the skin being so stretched during surgery and nerves being cut.
That part doesn't worry me as much. What I find really odd is feeling that one hard, pointy "thing" underneath, almost sticking out...
I'll just have to wait 'till next week for my appointment I guess...

Re: Can you feel part of your repair work through you abdomen wall?
Hi, I have had 2 c-sections and a tummy tuck - and my tummy stayed numb for a long time. It actually is very slightly numb - 20 years later. Nothing I notice or any doctor is concerned about.

Re: Can you feel part of your repair work through you abdomen wall?
I was washing my tummy in the shower and I felt this hard lump under my incision. Is that what you're feeling?
I freaked and called my doctor the next morning (luckily she's really easy to get a hold of) and she said that it's normal. It will stay hard for a while and then slowly soften. Sometimes you can make it softer, faster using a heating pad or a hot water bottle.
I'm not a doctor and you should probably check with yours but I wanted to tell you my story.
