Do sit-ups freak anyone out with abdominal incision?

Hi - another question to anyone out there. I've been a little freaked out about doing sit-ups or other abdominal exercises. (I'm 9 months post-op, TAH.) Is it just me or does anyone else feel weird about it? Boy, I need to do them! Thanks.

Re: Do sit-ups freak anyone out with abdominal incision?

I am 11 months post op and I am still TERRIFIED to do sit ups, it feels weird and I am still afraid I am going to do myself some permanent damage. I'll ask my doc when I see him for my annual in November, so for now, I just walk around holding my stomach in.

Re: Do sit-ups freak anyone out with abdominal incision?

I am 3 months post op and I would love to do any ab workout, but feel weird like I'm going to do some damage to my insides. I started working out 3-4 days a week 3 months before my surgery, also started running a little. I am very anxious to get back to th gym. I went last week twice and rode the bike and walked on the treatmill. One thing that was kinda weird was I didn't like the seat on the bike if you can imagine what i mean. Too hard. I guess it will take awhile to get used to it.

I don't do sit ups. I do use the other ab machines at the gym. Sometimes it does feel weird but I keep it moving and try not to think about it.

I like doing mini crunches while lying on my exercise ball. I am 4 months post op and I still get some soreness after a long workout of running and stuff. I also do "ball lifts" with my legs for my abs.

Thanks, everyone! It's great to know I'm not crazy. So I'll keep on hitting it. Thanks again.

Is it safe to do situps/crunches? I'm 9 months post op and would like to begin adding this sort of exercise to my aerobic exercising, but I'm in two minds about it. Has anyone asked their doctor? I don't see mine until November, and I don't really want to wait that long to find out. Thanks!

Hi!
I've been doing crunches/sit ups and I am 7 months out...I say go for it (my trainer said they were okay and he knew about my surgery) but don't over do it at first. I still get some "twinges" in my lower right side after a really hard work out, but other than that, I'm good. How are you otherwise?

I'm fine otherwise, I think. I walk three miles most days (and I don't mean stroll...I walk pretty quickly) and I also swim.
