adhesions ???

I had a hysterectomy last august, my recovery wasn't the best as I had infections, both internally and externally, after about 3 weeks on antibiotics I improved and returned to work etc. But I have always had a ridge under my scar - which is alot thicker at one end and very painful to touch. I also have patches on my lower tummy that are numb and some that are painful to touch, they feel like I have a deep cut or bruise. I spoke to my GP about these and he said that I may have adhesions and that they may settle it time. Has anyone got any suggests on what would help, or should I go back to the doctor. A still get a lot of pulling or stabbing pains in my stomach and at times I have a lot of pain in my bowel.

I would suggest talking to the doctor who did your surgery. Keep a diary of all of your symptoms that you can share with your doctor. There are several different things that could be going on including adhesions so you will want to be as specific as possible so your doctor can help you figure out what the problem is and how to treat it.

One thing that can happen with adhesions is that over time they shorten and that can cause increased pain. I have adhesions surgically removed and it does make a huge difference! However, surgery to remove adhesions can cause more adhesions!

Keep us posted about what you find out!
