Just checking in!

Hello to all my sisters! I had my spinal decompression surgery on May 20, 2009 and everything went well. I rescheduled my TAH for June 10, 2009. I'm doing everything I can to be ready for it. I told everyone including my ob/gyn about this forum and suggested they tell their patients about it. It is a site that helps with the fear of the unknown to read what others have been through. Thanks to the ones who replied to my question about having both surgeries. The answers helped a lot. Take care everyone and my prayers are with each and every one of you.

Re: Just checking in!

Hi Mystic41

I am also having a TAH mine is on June 5 let's stick together ! I am also doing everything I can to be ready so when I am in the castle and when I get out there will be all the comforts and my pain will be minimal.

DH was laughing at me last night I was inching the couch over a bit to make sure I had room and putting extra blankets, pillows etc around so I will not have to reach far if I need support or a warm blanket. He kept asking 'what are you doing????'

Aren't you brave having two huge surgeries back to back (no pun intended!). My surgery is 6/12.

Re: Just checking in!

I'm positive that we will all have the best experience possible. (staying optomistic here) There's one thing I am going to mention to my ob/gyn before I go into surgery and it was a problem I had with getting pain medications with the spinal decompression surgery. I was prescribed 2 percocet every 4 hours. I watched the clock and knew when my four hours was up and by reading all of the posts here I knew how important it was to stay ahead of the pain. I would buzz the nurse to let them know it was time (even though I knew that they knew when the four hours was up) They would not bring me my meds any where from 30 minutes to an hour later. I was upset about this and plan on trying to do whatever I can to see this doesn't happen with my hysterectomy. I can't say it enough about how great this forum is and how much it has calmed my nerves to know that it is here. Thanks again to all you supportive sisters!!! We are not alone and that is a great feeling. I know our families are with us every step and I am grateful for that, but they aren't the ones going through the procedure and we are. Good luck everyone and we will be just fine!!!!. *HUGS* to all!
